They will generally give it to you for 899 a night if you skip breakfast. If you're not an early riser this is a good option.

Lots of board members have stayed there and find it to be a GREAT deal.

I would vote for Sunshine Hotel,( I will be staying there in November) it is right in the center of action on Soi 8, not too far from Soi 6 or soi 13 and in easy reach of walking street. I would not limit myself to Easy Bar since it is very quiet until after midnight and there is alot to do starting early in the afternoon (soi 6 - High Boss Bar) and early evening ( La bamba - Soi 13). La Bamba is certainly a place for a Newbe, it has nice girls and is laid back. One more thing, on your first trip dont focus on a specific girl. There are so many beautiful and sexy ones available and what you see on pictures is not always what you find in reality. I know Paeng well but have my daubt if she is the person to initiate a Newbe.

Are the residence rooms better than the hotel room?

Yes, the residence rooms are better than the hotel rooms and yes I did boock a standard twin double at the residence. The other important item for me is that the hotel rooms do not have a in room safe while the residence rooms do have a safe. The buffet breakfast is good, better than the toast and 2 fried eggs at the PBR. Last, if you stay 1 week you will get 1 free night as well.
