I€™m a San Diego resident and have been visiting the red light area (known as La Zona Norte or La Zona Roja). For years I thought it was paradise. I speak fluent Spanish so I was able to negotiate pretty good with the girls in the bars as well as the street girls. THEN I took the plunge and visited SEA. First stop was the Philippines then Thailand. I can say without any reservation that the red light district in Tijuana absolutely sucks in comparison to ANYWHERE in Thailand. Those cops in the red light area are auxiliary police and are the most corrupt in town. Try walking around the area with a cop of coffee late at night and see what happens. The cops immediately assume you€™re piss-drunk and are drinking the coffee to sober up before heading back north. They will fuck with you and try to extort everything you have in your pockets. That aside the girls are nasty and very mechanical. They nickel and dime you for every position and 15 minutes the best you€™re going to get without doubling the charge. The short time hotels the TJ hookers use are disgusting. Even the nastiest ST hotel in Thailand is the Ritz compared to the shit-hole hotels in Tijuana. Even today€™s great USD to Peso rate they still try to extort the same rates they commanded when the exchange rate was much worse. The shemales in Tijuana do not work in the red light district. They are ostracized by the police and therefore ply their trade in the bars along Revolution Street and several blocks west of the red light area. If you pick up a T-girl in one of the bars you€™d better hope there€™s a room attached to the bar so that you don€™t get caught on the street with them. If you do you WILL go to jail or pay a hefty bribe. The t-girls working west of the red light area work in an area you should not be walking around in at night. If you do you need to go from point A to B as quickly as possible or you WILL get mugged by the scumbags Mexican thugs that prowl the streets or get arrested by the police.

I still seek out T-girls in Tijuana but now I either call/email some regulars or I browse the www.sexytijuana.com escort page.

Your map is very accurate... Nice job. Never heard the taco stand area called Tranny Island but it fits. Times were better when Noa-Noa was still a TS bar. Picked up a street girl last night at Tranny Island. Quoted me $20 bucks for everything. $5 for the room. Very basic room, no bathroom attached! Had an amazing time, no rush. Got her number too.

With those seven TJ cops ambushed and killed a few weeks ago, the police substation is closed and not too many cops on patrol. As a Cali resident, and my 2 life-long best friends being San Diego homies, I can see vague similarities that Side Show was trying to illustrate. And like SSB, I have met some of the most remarkable GG in the bars of Zona Norte and Revolucion. From the years 1980-1999 I was spending anywhere from 15-30 nights a year in Tijuana and Ensenada. It was fantastic. My friends and I could safely navigate the town on foot, without a care in the world. I was never pickpocketed, mugged, or hit up for a bribe, ever. Just good times, inexpensive beer, and women at every turn.

Unfortunately Tijuana's heyday is 12-15 years past. The cheap prices are gone, it's not safe driving down to Ensenada anymore (car jacking/ hiway robberies), and just crossing the border can be dangerous now. It reached a stage where the Mexican hospitality declined (thanks in part to US border policies), the cops are far more corrupt than anywhere and bribes are mandatory if you're stopped, plus you now have the possibility of catching a stray bullet from a drug shoot-out just because you want Mexican pussy. Truth be told, the finest women are working in San Juan, Costa Rica these days, not Mexico.

Then I visited Thailand for the first time and never looked back. I see no comparison, monger-wise, between the 2 countries at this stage. Yeah, there's bad electrical wiring, crappy neon signs, poor sidewalks (w/my pet-peeve open utility holes), arm-grabbing hookers, etc., in the adult entertainment areas at both locations, but the vibe is a world apart. The overall Thai scene far surpasses Tijuana and the Thai women (GG/TS) are so much more beautiful, more plentiful, and just plain cooler.
