Bangkok Vs Pattaya - which is best for first-time Mongering Trip

Hello everyone, I’ve been spending the last few days planning my upcoming trip to Bangkok. I posted a thread about it and received some really helpful insights from fellow members especially @Rockheart and others regarding LB bars, hotels, and costs. Based on that, I’ve decided on Bangkok and have already arranged most of my plans.

I’ve also been in touch with some friends on other forums to get answers to a few more questions. Now, most of them are recommending Pattaya over Bangkok, especially since this is my first visit to Thailand. They say Pattaya is more budget-friendly and has a larger LB crowd than Bangkok.

I believe this forum has the right audience to help me decide which destination to go with. My requirements are quite clear: I want to meet as many LBs as possible, and also plan to meet some girls along the way.

I’m not sure if this excitement is getting to me, or if I’m feeling a bit uneasy since this is my first mongering solo trip.

Pattaya has more ladyboys per capita than Bangkok and everything is cheaper than Bangkok and it is beside the Ocean but has fairly dirty beaches. The ladyboys mainly come from the countryside in Pattaya, this can mean darker skin and worse english. There is not really any ladyboy gogo bars like in Nana plaza and not many actual taxis and no actual tuk tuks. Not so many tourist attractions. Pattaya does have the biggest ladyboy shows such as Tiffany's and Alcazar. Sometimes Pattaya can get a little boring and the same old thing. Ladyboys I would say end up being more clingy in Pattaya. Also likely to find more Russians and Indian tourists in Pattaya.

Bangkok has less ladyboys per capita but probably more ladyboys total but also 50 times the size of Pattaya. There is many ladyboy gogo bars in Bangkok if you like that style and not as many lounge style bars as Pattaya. Less of the ladyboys are from the countryside and a majority are from Bangkok. This can mean lighter skin and better english. I would say the majority of petite feminine ladyboys is largely found in Bangkok, if you like that.
If you are into tourism there is far more things to see in Bangkok. Attuthaya, Grand Temple, shopping and more. It's a city with pretty much everything. Everything is normally higher price than Pattaya. Bangkok has ladyboy shows on a smaller scale. Just the big city experience in Bangkok can be exciting.
Bangkok has the best food and restaurants obvisously as it is far bigger but also good food in Pattaya. Bangkok is going to likely be alot more like a regular city compared to Pattaya which is basically just a large red light district.

I would say overall Pattaya has less rules and more freelancers but that also means you need to understand how mongering works. I always thought Bangkok is a better starting place for a newbie but Pattaya is also cheaper, so there is that.

They are also only 2 hours apart and it is feasible to visit both. Transportation is cheap and available at will in both Bangkok and Pattaya.

my trip is confirmed to Bangkok and I booked my tickets. I want enjoy this trip as much as possible. My plan is to first explore walking street first day and the visit bar the next.

Walking street is in Pattaya.
Soi Cowboy would be similar to Walking street in Bangkok. Khao San road is another like walking street but more mainstream and away from Nana and other areas.

To pick up ladyboys in daytime it is easy in Pattaya. Most ladyboy bars will be closed but there is lots of bars on Soi 6, 7 & 8 during the daytime that have ladyboys and are usually open.

The daytime in Bangkok is harder. Best to arrange a ladyboy for daytime at night.
You can find some ladyboys during the day on Soi 7, there is some massage and bars there that often have ladyboys in the day.
Ladyboys work on Sukhumvit during the day spefically by the Ramuchitt Hotel around Soi 15.
Why Not Bar on Soi 4 claims they don't close. So if you go there in daytime just knock on the door, there is probably ladyboys inside.

Sorry, my location is Bangkok. What I meant by 'barfine' is that if I want to take a girl out to my hotel, I understand we usually pay a barfine and take her for the entire night. However, I've also heard that in some cases, they may not allow certain girls to go out.

Ok, Yes walking street is in Pattaya.

There may be some ladyboys that have rules like this but generally you can take the ladyboy of your choosing.
Some may have a foreign boyfriend or just want to do short time in the bar. Some may feel they can make more money this way while others like to try to get a customer for longer.
Nana Plaza has lots of new rules since I have been there but as far as Why Not Bar or Check In Bar I've never heard of such a thing. Sometimes you might like one of the servers who may not be able to leave due to working, but usually you can take the servers also.
I wouldn't worry too much about the scenerio you described. There is many many ladyboys to choose from.

Not clear what you are asking about Bar Fines?

A few small remarks about this post by Rockheart:

The hotel mentioned is the Ruamchitt hotel (probably a typo) During daytime you won't find anyone there, but after sunset you'll find ladyboys outside on the sidewalk (as they are not allowed to enter, unlike GG freelancers).

The Soi mentioned is Soi 7/1. A small dead-end soi, next to Soi 7. Limited chance of meeting ladyboys during day time though. In the evening you can find them in Cat bar and Meeting bar. Occasionly indeed a ladyboy operates in one of the massage places.

Why Not bar is closed during daytime. They open the doors at 5 pm and close officially at 2am (this means they close the shutters, but customers can stay as long as turn-over is acceptable)

A barfine is to be paid whenever you want to spend some time with one of the bargirls. In the BKK lounge bars this is 600 THB (except service girls in Check In bar and CIB11 (1000 THB)).
The barfine also has to be paid if you take a girl to the on-site Short-Time rooms (also 500 THB). You can also take out a girl to your hotel if preferred. At Cindy's and Why Not, barfine is fixed no matter how long you like the girl to stay (as long as she makes it back to work the next day at 5 pm). In Check In bar and CIB11 it varies between ST (approx. 1 hour) of LT (>1hour) and the time you take the girl out.
