New in BKK

Perhaps I want to take her again, thus I wanted to check the price levels - because I have heard of - lets say different prices. But reading your replies I think everything was ok.
And why take someone - well I feel very comfortable around her - other LB I took for dinner etc. behaved very badly.

If she is one of the "hotter" ones, you might find that over time her expectations have increased considerably. Remember a lot of these girls are earning upwards of 4-10,000 baht every night - more so if they are one of the hotter ones and particularly if they have had good things said about them on forums like this and or been photographed. The girl often does not change that much, but her earning capacity sure does so you might want to keep that in mind.

I suggest you keep reading - this is peak season at the moment - prices for everything are high as is demand. If you want a good and cheap hotel, have a look at the hotel in Sukhumvit Plaza on Soi 1 - its 650 baht a night and one floor up from Guess bar. Guess is probably a good place to start - it opens at 3pm and is a lot more relaxed than a typical LB bar. Read the posts on the Guess Bar forum to get some better ideas.

The difference between me and you is I have done that many times before and Ming is a good friend of mine and I have know her for over 3 years since she worked in Cocktails and Dreams in Phuket.

And yes this is a newbie forum where we usually help new members but only when they ask politely.

Well now that you have asked politely I am more than happy to help.

My advice is as follows.

1. Since you are a newbie I would negotiate a price first before heading back to a hotel.

2. If you feel like you want to have more than one take them a short time hotel so as to not risk losing any valuables.

3. Stick where possible to the bar girls and leave the freelancers to a later trip once you have become more familiar with the way things work. If you have a problem with a bar girl at least you know where to find her and have some recourse with the mamasan at the bar.

4. Try to meet up with other punters in town or the locals. Hey maybe offer to by Stogie or Moneyman a drink and get them to take you into the Nana bars as then you will not be swamped by the girls. Small price to pay for a few beer Changs.

5. Lock your valuables up in a room safe or at the very least keep them out of site. No temptation usually means no loss.

6. Don't contact any of the girls you see before your trip as they will up the price as they know you want to see them.

7. Don't skimp on hotel room. You don't have to stay at the marriott but at least get something clean and comfortable such as the Majestic Suites or better still the Dynasty Grande.

8. Tell the girls you are there longer than you really are as I find the service quality sometimes improves if they believe they might get some repeat business.

9. When in the bars politely decline the approaches of the masses of girls and just tell them you are looking and want to relax and have a drink. If this does not work ask for the mamasan and buy her a drink and tell you do not want to be approached and will call a girl over once you are ready.

10. Do sit at big dogs and watch both the incoming parade at about 5:30-6:00pm as the girls arrive for work.

11. Do sit at big dogs and watch the closing parade as the girls congregate outside Nana trying to find that elusive customer.

12. After closing you will generally get the girls cheaper and will not have to pay a bar fine, but do not wait until this time only to save a few bucks.

13. Be clear on your expectations with the girl and get them to repeat to you what you have asked so you know for sure they understood and there is less chance of a misunderstanding.

To Ozzie - I am sorry you misunderstood me. Before she even knew how much I would give her she bought food and drinks etc. If I then deduct the sum she spend on her own free will not knowing how much she would get it would be less than 2000 Baht - but as I said before I never talked about money to her.

For you Mardi, thanks for your advice. Yes you are right - with most of the ones I know. But perhaps with this one I was lucky?
I know her for more than 4 years now - there was never ever a conversation about money - exept what do you get - up to you.
Reading this forum - I think in any Nana bar she would be among the top 3. I have not read or found any negative remark about her. However, I think you might be right  - but I think she is more of a declining star than a rising star - because for a LB she starts to see the dawn of her career.
