Going to BKK 1st time in Oct Need Help

I will be in BKK in Oct alone on business...never been with Thai LBs b4...but have some encounters with TSs in San Francisco...What are ur pearls of wsdom:
1-what are my chances of meeting some LBs whos pics are in asian-ts...I have some favs picked up in BKK already.
2-what are some of the precautions I need to know so I dont get robbed/overcharged/kiled?
3-Can I safely take a cab from my hotel to Nana Plaza and safely return?
4-I am planning on using a room at the bar or close by Hotel...how are the accomodations?
