First and foremost; Quite a challenge, yet also a strengths builder for Jay as a business owner in a very volatile industry.
About the Soi Cowboy idea; while its true there are only couple of free lancers there at closing time, I'm not sure of the future of this street, as a big development is shooting up just on the corner, it could be the street may be "a liability" for the image within a year or so. Just my own observation and may not be the case at all.
I don't think a move to Patpong would be that bad from a pure business perspective incl. securing her staff, for all the reasons Mardhi and others have mentioned already, Patpong will always be, I'm sure.
Keep the faith up, Jay, Guess blows most bars away in town, including "normal" bars... and the concept will prevail wherever you reside I'm sure.... :-)
Sorry to read this bad news.
There was a great atmosphere when I visit this bar.
Only a short time for to find a new location and this on the beginning of the high session.
Hope that this move can be a further step of Jay`s success as bar owner.
Silom Soi 4 would not be a bad location, it used to be gay, but now its more half gay + half "gay-friendly"
Its better than patpong since you miss most of the street traffic when getting off the skytrain
interesting thing is the bar would see a lot more Thais and tourists than the current location.
I would hope there would be an upstairs or secluded area....don't want tourists popping in while I am being manhandled on the couch.
Stogie must have a million air miles with Kaos by now.
Actually i prefered it a few years ago in the Bali Ken days.....now what happened to him?. He used to dress them FB up in Nurses Uniforms.
btw
As far as i know there is only one Gay bar on Soi2, its not a Gay walkway . Some tourists actually think Soi4 is Patpong2 as well...
There are also no Gay Go Go bars on Soi4 , just eateries and bars.
Guess has obviously proven popular with both residents and tourists alike from reading the forum. I actually went there two nights ina row back during the water festival but it was closed so missed out.
I am sure - save the middle of Patpong - it will prove everybit as popular wherever it moves. Personally I like the area around Soi 33 but on the opposite side of the road - the place where the irsh bar sits on the corner?
Not sure how Guess would fair there but it is a nice little area.
Here is my suggestion. Soi 22/Washington Square Area. Lots of bars, hotels in the area. Close to Phrom Pong Sky train. Easy walk from Sukhumvit to the bars and most important no other LB bars. Unless the rents are out of sight then this is the place to be. I for one believe that the location of Guess Bar, away from the hassle of Nana, made it a great place to check out. That made it unique and very popular with the guys and I believe that this should be a prime consideration for the next location.
