A decent wine (red or white) will cost half a fortune and probably won't be worthy.
Also, I tend to appreciate wine if I've some morsels around, and not peanuts.
Yeah..I know..you would say bite into some nice LBs derrier huh?
Why not having instead sparkling wine. Like for example Cava from Spain which very moderately priced and not a far shot away from Champagne. Or other decent sparkling wines that the ladies may appreciate as well instead of a cheap Chilean or S. African teeth tinting reddies!
Do only what you think it's good for you, and not what others think should be good for you!

As an infrequent visitor; A glass of decent red wine would be great if the economics make sense from a business perspective for Guess....

Sandeman is my preferred at the moment but any "decent" port would be cool with me !!!!!

Heck believe it or not there are a few decent winery's here in Virginia in the USA that make a very very good port .

I am not a smoker , however I have been known to puff on a cigar from time to time .

Do they keep cigars in the Guesse bar ?

Also is it possible to get REAL Cuban cigars in Thailand ?

Have always wanted one cuban , just so I could say I'd had one !

Just my opinion. I am a wine drinker at home most of the time. Like many have said before me I don't tend to drink wine in Thailand. The climate just seems to call for whisky and ice or beer. I would guess that wine won't bring in more customers or make you more money, especially by the bottle but that is just my guess.

[QUOTE]My only reservation being that if you chill red wine you kill it and the humidity in LOS is not really condusive to chambre conditioning at room temperature even in air conditioning.

I've brought red wines from California to the Philippines before and indeed the humidity is the issue. Forget the fridge for red wines unless you are into sweet dessert wine like port. If you are serious about serving dry reds, a wine room with a dehumidifier would be appropriate, and you could use it to store your cigars for sale too.

Sorry for messing up the quote, Harley, but good advice anyway about the red wine.

Generally, what would you old LOS hands advise a newbie who doesn't like beer to drink?

Yes I would love wine, but should also sell by the glass from a bottle. Beer is starting to give me the shits now but wine I could go all night. Towards the end of my last trip a few years ago I was just ordering wine by the glass where I could get it. They had a nice red a Gulliver's.

There is no reason not to chill red wine especially in a hot climate like Thailand. A wine expert from Penfolds (big winery in OZ) even suggested this for the hot Australian summer. Of course we are talking middle of the range drinking wines here not $600.00 bottles of grange. I have always bought a few bottles of red to Thailand. Tastes great chilled.

I believe JW Marriot has cigar store.

                              Other wise try this.

Damn I hope not...Trying not to be too critical here cause I am a smoker, but cigars...UGH...

Sat behind a guy at Cascades once who fired one up and I couldn't get out fast enough...As I recall, he wasn't exactly velcroed by girls either...But to each his own...

To the topic...I am a nightly red wine drinker at home...but for some reason, seldom indulge when in LOS except for a glass during my evening meal on the rare occasion I am allowed to eat western style food...
