Is guess-bar surviving?

i've only been able to visit guess a few times.

its a great bar as far as i'm concerned. relaxed, plenty of good quality girls.

ive barfined there and been very satisfied. the management seems good as well.

what i am wondering is, is it surviving? is it profitable?

The anecdotal evidence I have seen would indicate that yes its surviving. Infact Jay was out shopping yesterday and presumably blowing some of last months profits on new dresses & clothes as in her words on an sms to me "I have nothing to wear".

so that coupled with the fact that she is looking for 4 additional girls to hire, would lead to me to think that the bar is at the very least, profitable and meeting her expectations. I do know she told me that it was quiet some days in March - but April seems to have been busier, which is surprising as she was closed for 3 days over Songkran. However I guess one of the best indicators is the girls - they dont leave (unless she wants them out), which would also indicate that the likes of Jenny, Pear, Joy, Eat etc - all of whom could get a job anywhere in an instant, are also very happy at how things are working out. Funny enough - thats probably the thing that has most surprised me - I would have expected a higher movement of staff - but it does not seem to happen and everytime I go into the bar, they all seem genuinely happy, smiling and totally comfortable in the place.

i was just curious because the few times i have made it in there was only myself and 1 to 4 other people max.

perhaps i am going at an off time. just curious if that would generate enoughcash.

I hope it is surviving, i don't want to be in BKK for 8 nights & no guess bar. You need somewhere to relax & convalesce after feeding yourself to the WolfPacks in NaNa.

I really enjoy the Guess bar and I owe 100% of my knowledge of it to AsianTS and this board.

The LB bars I've been to previously (only a few go-gos) have been just too frenetic...friggin' nuts actually.

I love to watch people have a good time...any kind of people.  What I love about Guess Bar is the girls really seem to enjoy themselves as opposed to the nagging insistent pursuit of baht found in every other LB bar I've been in.  They have fun, which makes me as a customer have fun.  

When I have a good time I tend to stay longer and staying longer equates to spending more money.  My expenditures at Guess are usually three or four times more than they are at other bars.

I've also seen some very heavy spending by some of the punters that patronize the bar...serious spending, way out of my league.

What does this, in my opinion, is the minimal "buy" pressure the girls put on the customers.  It's kind of like a sales clerk asking if you need help.  They let you know they are there for hijinks and they would love for you to pay bar/buy them a cocktail/give them a tip...but they are not insistent.  And, they make you feel welcome even if you decline.  

Being put at ease and relaxed you, (at least myself) start to have a few drinks and the girls suck (no pun) you into their world (a leveling of the waters so to speak) and you are made to feel like it is "your bar".

I would guess Guess is doing well.  If there is a problem, my thought it is that it will come when the bar becomes too busy and the current level of service/comfort can't be maintained or if management (I assume that is Jay) makes too much money and starts paying less attention to detail or starts letting the ship sail on auto-pilot.

The one thing that could cause a problem at Guess is to much staff. What is the staffing levels in the NANA bars, on average 20 to 60 girls depending on which bar you are in. The large number of girls and small number of clients, especially during low season, is probly on of the reasons for the hard sale approach. I am sure there are other pressures as well, pressure from management to sale drinks and bar fines and also the girls desires to make money in a competitive enviroment.

It's an expression used on a lot of the world sex forums. It is an acronym meaning Pathetic Loser Monger and it has an expansive definition. Basically, sex tourists looking for love in bars and falling in love. Most of them end up supporting hookers via long distance and send them a monthly stipend that increases in time. All with the delusion that the girl is only with them and doesnt fuck local guys for free and doesnt still work in the bar. The new sex tourist is comprised mostly of these kinds of guys...mostly lonely divorcees with a fat settlement after selling the assets.
