Yeah forget VB. Don't worry about Aussie beers unless you can get Cascades or Boags.

    Wouldn't mind the Beer Laos.

If you DO get the canned beer then for gawds sake don't let the midget behind the bar to pour it. He'll pour half and chuck the rest away.

Wow - obviously hit a raw nerve with this one !!!!

Great feedback - sounds like Beer Lao, Guiness and John Smiths is the way to go + possibly Erdinger and a belgian beer. The Belgian stuff is stocked by her cousin so she should be able to find the wholesaler but I cant for the life of me remember what it was called.

        Cheers

Would definitely go a Stella Artois if available.

Please no VB or Fosters or I'll be forced to turn up to Guess Bar wearing my Blue Singlet, Stubbie Shorts and Thongs !

              Cheers

On a personal note, I think that Beer Chang and Beer Lao should never sell for more than 100 Baht.
                Why?

Personally, I think beer should be free

Beers / Spirits are not overly high on my list of things that matter when I'm holiday, the local stuff normally does me just fine.

I'm quite partial to Guiness and Bass myself .

But if Guiness weren't available I could make do with Murphy's just as easily .

..scrap any thought of the American lagers......the Asian lagers are mild enough for any "wimpy" tastes out there. The American micro brews are great but impossible to get as an export. I hear there is a micro brewery or two in BKK.....they most likely only keg so Guess would need a small "kegarator".....not uncommon in beer drinking households in the US. About $500 US here(wholesale) and can handle 2 - 20 liter kegs(5 gal US)....Keg beer at Guess would be amazing..........

I did drink quite a bit of Boags while i was working in Taz at the end of last year, not a bad pint really.

Stella has the reputation of making people aggressive in the UK, not quite sure why, but its a popular rumour amoungst the regular swillers where I work.

..I lived in Brussels for a year and saw Stella poured by the gallons(liters) as it's what I call the Budweiser of Belgium beers....mild, pale, cheap, lager(lawn mower beer as you can drink a few liters and still mow the lawn on a hot day without cutting off a foot) that when imported to a foreign country carries a premium price.....sort of like Corona.....25 yrs ago no one in Mexico would drink that "horse piss" as they called it......spend millions on marketing and advertising and now it's a premium export..go figure. Stick to serving ales and you can't go wrong with me.....
