  • Beers (the drink not the Girl)

Jays original plan was to try and stock a wider range of beers than you normally see in a bar in Thailand.

With the opening rush, she never found the suppliers for each of the imported beers, but after we were out last week at her cousins place, she has started to think again about what gets stocked.

    Currently she has:-

    Heinken
    Tiger
    Chiang
    Singha
    San Miguel Light
    Corona

She knows she can get the following:

    John Smiths 'draught' cans
    VB
    Fosters
    Budweiser
    Erdinger (German, I believe)
    Cider from UK
    Various Belgian beers
    Stella Artois
Beer Lao - which apparently (!!!!) is excellent

Odds are for all these imported beers, your probably looking at a selling price of circa 180baht I would imagine.

Question is, is there any demand for any of the above? If so which ones? and I will pass it onto Jay. Personally I quite fancy the Erdinger stuff which we had last week - nice enough beer and also John Smiths would make a nice change.

    Cheers
    Mardhi

Too much choice is more cost of stock.

Iwould suggest maybe one "english" beer, either Bitter or Guiness, but drop the lowest seller of the rest that she has already.
seriously pig headed, arrogant, double standard smart ass poster!

Beer Lao please. For Gods sake please I beg you tell Jane not to carry any American beer. All of them, across the board taste like beer flavored water and nothing more. On a personal note, I think that Beer Chang and Beer Lao should never sell for more than 100 Baht.

The current lineup is pretty standard. Nothing wrong with it and plenty of good ones, but it does not give an extra incentive to visit there.

                          1. Beer Lao - good, cheap, and widely known. you need this.
                          2. Erdinger - you need a wheat beer like this the most! Erdinger will do and is good, but Weihenstephaner or Franziskaner are even better IMHO and are available at some other bars and also have seen Paulaner.
                          3. Draft - having a keg of cheap drafts is appealing though don't know if it would be practical in that setting or not. Maybe a pony keg. There's just something so appealing about stepping into a bar with a tap on the counter that makes you feel you are at home.
                          4. Guinness -I used to be a big Guinness fan but not while in Thailand because I find stouts a little hard to drink in the tropical climate.
                          5. Bud - you gotta be kidding! There are even bars in America that will throw you out if you order a bud or coors. Like ordering a big mac in a fine steak house.
                          6. Belgian Bottles - Having any of these excellent beers, such as Hoegaarden would be cool. Go this far and you'll be really quite the bar.

No need to over do it.  Just beer for thought.

From the list I would pick Beer Lao and John Smiths .. But a good ale (no not ginger ale), would meke my day

                            Cheers
