    Not another poll
Haha there's something about that made me laugh! I was being a bit tongue in cheek so just spank my arse and call me Shirley (Sundays only) and we'll be done with this music crap!

    • (A-Lek @ Aug. 04 2008,00:38) Hi all,

Was in the bar last nite and did not enjoy the music played inside.

Anyway my sincere apologies to Mardhi and his GF as I was nagging too much about the music.

Sorry  I just had a few drinks too much.

      Please forgive me.

      Kind regards,

      Alex
Appology accepted and I equally feel bad at what I said - its not in my nature but I sometimes I do get wound up about music.    What it is, is what it is.

Look forward to the next drink together. And for the record the music is what it is - there are going to be no further changes in Guess Bar (but maybe Guess will be moving sometime soon, sorry).

      Cheers
      Mardhi

i sure do hope it is a discreet location, that is what i like most about where it is now.  plus soi four in general is a good place, centrally located and many other services there too, like restaurants and massage.

easy in and out and no one is the wiser. one reason i am able to go to guess is for that reason. i would like to visit obsessions, but with their entrance right in the plaza as it is, i can not risk my employer or office mates seeing me. it could cost me my job. (sorry to whine, but that is the way it is. homo-phobia and intolerance rears their ugly heads once again.)

the nana plaza bars are to exposed for those of us who must remain "in the closet" as it were. only cascade offers a discreet entrance in nana, and that is only because it is on the third tier.

i hope whoever is organizing a move keeps that in mind for those of us that live here and must remain discreet as to our proclivities and leanings.

                          • OK, never one to ignore a challenge, I decided I need to burn some CD's to bring with me and leave behind in some of the finer establishments in LOS. I doubt they'll get much play, as my tastes are a bit eclectic but I cannot resist trying to turn folks on to music whenever I get a chance. I worked in music retail in the late 70's after graduating High School and still look back fondly at those days as the happiest in my professional life. Today I have a fantastic job which is very rewarding but my real love is my "hobby business" where I sell vinyl online. I have over 40,000 records in inventory!

And yes, I'm prepared for the slagging. I've little doubt that much of these collections which I've slaved and sweated over will probably end up in the rubbish bin at whatever bars I try to foist it upon, but I'm prepared to try anyway. No risk, no reward!

Anyway, I've put together DEEPTHROAT's LOS BAR MIX Volumes 1-6 and will bring them with me in Jan/Feb. They are in CD cases with printed covers and are titled as noted above. Some of the artists will be either unknown or barely known but most have a "classic rock" bent to them even if you've never heard them. The artists compiled include:

VOLUME 1: No-Man / Rush / Marillion / Dishwalla / Foreigner / Darryl Hall with Robert Fripp / Supertramp / The Eagles / Blackfield / Alan Parsons Project / Evanescence / Sarah McLachlan / Tori Amos

VOLUME 2: Black Sabbath / Pink Floyd / Foreigner / Spock's Beard / Tears For Fears / Marillion / Vanden Plas / Evanescence / Tori Amos / Porcupine Tree / The Beach Boys

VOLUME 3: Alice Cooper / The Beatles / Kula Shaker / Talk Talk / Dishwalla / Boston / Trace Adkins / John Elefante / Tangerine Dream / Seal / Good Charlotte / Tony Banks

VOLUME 4: Dishwalla / TLC / Radiohead / Mike Oldfield / Kansas / Elton John / Porcupine Tree / Supertramp / Marillion / Midnight Oil / Sylvan / Neil Young

VOLUME 5: Electric Light Orchestra / Midnight Oil / Tears For Fears / Mike Oldfield / Aimee Mann / Porcupine Tree / Journey / King Crimson / Craig Armstrong / Massive Attack / Icehouse / Radiohead / The Urbane / David Gilmour / The Beatles / Badfinger

VOLUME 6: Tears For Fears / Elton John / Kerry Livgren / Porcupine Tree / John Elefante / Dishwalla / Transatlantic / Pink Floyd / Peter Gabriel / Nic Raine / Tori Amos / Arena

                              • Old folk crap??    And which idiot gangsta rapper do you propose putting up against this stuff?  I heard the latest piece of bilge by Ludacris this week, now that was CRAP!!

Deepthroat, if you can burn extra copies of these, I would be happy to pay for the freight. A good compilation album is never easy to find & if these come with your personal recommendation I would love copies. Maybe I can download it myself?

And good to see Naang Faa's favourite band - Marillion featured several times, she has told me to look out for them & I'm sure you have added only their best stuff.

Sorry Drift Spunk, just wait till you are old enough to listen to what the generation that is following you comes up with. It is guaranteed to piss you off.

One thing has remained constant, the duty of each successive generation is to pick music alien to the one that came before. (enjoy your DP   )
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
