Because of her unique perspective on this, she makes the excellent point that it's worth bearing in mind how you want the girls to perceive you.

Then, when you're sitting with these two, after a few minutes chat explain to them politely that maybe you'll be taking another lady. If there's one you have your eye on, tell them who it is and they'll usually bring her over, then tactfully fade out of the picture. They've scored a drink ticket, they've wasted no time and they've lost no face. No hard feelings.

That's my technique anyway, developed over several years of getting pounced on in places like the Nana joints and Jenny Star Bar, and it usually works fine. As well as helping you to manage those tricky first encounters, it's also a bit of an investment in getting the one you want and having a good time with her later, because by buying those drinks cheerfully, you've passed the test that Vivian describes. The girls don't like men who don't smile and they can't afford to like men who don't cough up the dough.

I remember being in Stringfellows once and it was total mayhem, busy, lots of girls and lots of punters, lots of drinks going down and all sorts of shenanigans, everywhere you looked. An unforgettably sexy, fun night. Sitting in the midst of it all was one gloomy looking farang with a coca cola in front of him. As the girls confirmed, he was a notorious cheap charlie who came in a lot and they all blanked him. It was one of the saddest sights you could ever see.

I went back and reread the OP's original post... and I think you guys and girl are being a bit harsh...

First, I always thought that one of the basic tenets of any business was to listen to its customers...Good or bad, there is something to be learned from a customer complaint...

I am a long time patron, customer, visitor, whatever of Guess Bar...and one of its major advocates...BUT, originally the bar was a sort of safe haven of sorts...the unwritten rule was that you could venture into Guess and sit at the bar and not be approached by a girl for any reason...order your drink and just stare at their asses for hours on end if that is your bent...

And it was indeed that way...

In the new bar things are much different...and that's not to say it's either good or bad...just different...

I visit the bar almost every night when I'm in BKK...and I fully realize that my experience is not the same as an infrequent visitor to the bar...But I do observe what is happening and what the OP is complaining about...and in truth, now in many ways it's not much different than a visit to a bar in NEP...The girls are all ready to pounce on the customer the minute he reaches for the door...

Things change...everything is dynamic...sometimes we like the change....sometimes we don't...

The OP doesn't...that doesn't make it right or wrong...He simply doesn't like the change...Don't be so harsh...
