One Way ticket to Oz for ladyboy?

A lb friend has an aussie 3 month visa..... and isn't sure if she can enter just on a one way ticket and purchase the return ticket later.

Does anyone know if this is acceptable when entering through immigration or if having a return ticket booked and paid for is essential?

It's not IMpossible, but all sorts of flags will be raised. Unless she can show FUNDS and a VERY GOOD reason as to why she doesn't have an EXIT strategy, I'd say she's in for a GRILLING.

The three questions Immigration will ask are:-

Why have you come here?
Where are you staying?
When do you return home?

Don't know or not sure are not acceptable answers to any of them.

Given that the price of a return ticket is generally in the ballpark of a single journey ticket why doesn't she see if she can trade it and pay the difference? (What I mean is some nice man on the internet can pay the differnce...)
Otherwise I would say she will get no further than the Immigration counter and the blacklist.

If she wants to buy a ticket to satisfy immigration, the cheapest option is AirAsia's new service between Darwin and Bali. Flights commence on 23 December and can pick up a ticket for less than A$100 inc. tax.

If you watch the Ozzy program "Border patrol" whatever answer you give to whatever question is ALWAYS the wrong one. Burn the witch is always the correct response. Why do you come to Australia? To see the scenery.... WRONG You MUST state exactly which scenery and where, preferably which day you will be visiting it. To see a nice beach. WRONG. You have to know EXACTLY which beach you are here to visit. Bondi is not a beach, and is automatically an incorrect answer. Any one who is used to freelance travel in Asia where you decide today where you will go and what to see is in for a REAL SHOCK on arrival in either Sydney or Brisbane.

Everything must be known to you in advance. Just be VERY prepared with all your responses.

I've had my moments at both Sydney, Brisbane  on multiple occasions and I don't even need a visa to get into Australia.  Questions border on asinine.  One example.  You state on your arrivals card you are visiting friends. Yes.  What is their telephone number. I don't know, I can't remember numbers. YOU MUST KNOW IT if it's your friend.  I DON'T!  Where do they live. Name of town. WHERE, road/street/number. I don't know, it's a rural address, I haven't been there before. YOU MUST KNOW..   I don't. I don't need to know, I'm being picked up by my friend You.  You say you are visiting friends. I told you that etc ect.  I said to the nice junior, go get me a phone book and I'll look it up.  That won't be necessary.  How will you get there if you don't know where it is?  My friend You is picking me up.     What if they are not there?  I will use the phone book, look up the number and ring them,  and round and ROUND AND ROUND we went for some time...     Every answer the SAME as before.  I can speak perfect English, and I have a legitimate reason to be in Australia.  In the end asked for a Senior, where all "issues" where resolved in about 60 sec!!!!    For a LB who has never been to OZ before her friend better damn well be THERE to pick her up at the arrivals exit, and be available via cellphone at all times after that plane lands.  They both better have what they plan to do ENTIRELY sorted so ALL facts match or it's likely she will be back on the next flight, and she will be lucky to even speak to him via phone..  Do not carry any phrase books that highlight rude words, especially words that may have a sexual connotation. Don't carry CV's, Educational diplomas, degrees etc ect ect FOR ANY reason as that WILL be construed as "intention to work contrary to Visa category".  ETC ETC

On the other hand if you strike a reasonable immigrations officer disregard all written above...  Australian immigration on a good day is like a bright sunny day

The consular staff check that when you apply for a visa so immigration will only ask if they have doubts about the identity of the passport holder.

They also ask the three questions at application time and immigration can compare what is said then with what is said at the point of entry if suspicions are raised at that time.
