Have not been to Genoa for years but it was one of those classic moments when you are hungry and walk into the nearest eatery and have the best Italian meal of your life, and yes, Spaghetti Bolognese, some garlic bread and a half bottle of vino rosso is all it was but I can still taste it --the wine was Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and chilled, wow...). I admit its been some years since I trawled through the south of France mostly after working there in the summer -one year there were passable tv/ts hookers in Montpellier on the north side of the small park outside the railway station, a few years later I didn't see anyone (after midnight). I used to assume Nice was well endowed because of the tourists and the prohibition on street traffic in Monaco, and maybe the Latin American girls who have always dominated France, Italy and Spain can be aggressive -certainly in the Bois de Boulogne you have to be careful. Theres a rough and tumble bar on Calle de Santa Monica (down Ramblas,past the sex shop....first turning on the right before the Arts Centre) called Nayade. It's the last building on the left down the alley at the junction with C Montserrat,opposite Bar Pastis. Seeing is believing....open early evening til midnightish...populated by monsters,operating-table disasters and God-knows-what. If you are feeling VERY perverted,it's worth a visit. Nearest metro is Drassanes.

That trip to Barcelona I was with a ladyboy friend and we found a bar but nowhere near as bad as Nayade but damn I can't remember but I think it was on a small side street near Martins on the Passeig de Gracia -there was a sensational Brazilian there, almost 6 foot tall, 19 years old, an older blonde who disappeared to the St room upstairs with a client, and an even older type -guess these places are hit and miss but worth exploring. Cannes though is a bit crap. St Tropez about an hour's drive from Sophia - it's ok

Even Monaco is only an hour's drive away. Worth it for a flying visit
