    Hello Allstar88,

I don't know but it would not surprise me.

To get an Australian passport renewed you have to show up in person at the High Commission in London.
Even if you live in the Outer Hebrides they don't accept postal applications!

I'm surprised the embassy do the photos though as normally you provide your own.

        Hello Allstar88,

Here is a link to the English language page of the Thai Embassy in London for new E-pasports.

Section #3.  E-Passport applicants must apply in person at the Consular Section, the Royal Thai Embassy, London

Also note it says in the sentence just above:-  Please be informed that the process of applying for a new passport takes 6-8 weeks as the new passport must be issued by the Consular Department in Bangkok, Thailand

The Royal Thai Embassy is open between 9.30 a.m. -12.30 p.m. every Monday to Friday.
Typical! Anyone who has to travel from a long way away will have to stay overnight somewhere.

It looks like they could renew an ordinary passport by post but note:  Non-electronic passport can be extended until 28 July 2010

(Only slightly off-topic - it is a related subject)

Anyone who requires a visa to enter the UK now has to have their fingerprints taken and have a retina scan at a British Embassy (or, more usually at wherever The Embassy outsources the work) before their visa application is processed.

Of course there is a charge for this and yes, the applicant has to book an appointment and yes, it is (apparently) only done in capital cities, so if the applicant lives outside of the capital, travel (more expense) is involved.
