Had a quick look at that hotel on Asia Rooms... people who go there seem to like it.

The rooms start at just over $100... so if you go to a local travel agent in Cebu and pay cash you reckon that there are rooms for about half that rate?

Sorry for being unclear, the Parklane is approx $100 US or less all in, but the Shangri La 5* resort on Mactan, which starts at about $180 was offered to me by some local agency for $95 night cash, prob a local rate? Didn't have cash & went to Amex travel agency & got a room for about $110. Bring a friend because it's isolated away.

Yeah..I went to Shangri-La Mactan some 10-`11 years ago, or so. It would be a bit unconvenient having to travel to downtown every evening and then going back with those taxi drivers asking you extra as it's a bit out of the way, and so on.

Last time I was in Cebu must have been 1999 or 2000 and I wasn't very impressed by the place but seems like now it's about time to go and take a look at the changes.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about it as well, at least it's not Manila. It's lots more work than LOS: no LB bars, no "district" or neighborhood to focus on, not a good walking town (tiny sidewalks) with dingy buildings,.... I really have to think about returning & why would I bother.

The answer is mostly the people, very warm, open to Americans & Europeans & fun attitudes about life, hot looking girls & the fact that english is spoken & understood almost everywhere. The trick seems to be to arrange for introductions, company, transportation as much as possible before one goes. Ideally having a girl to introduce you, or a fellow chaser who is an expat would be a major help. Also an honest driver. The logistics are just more difficult.
I know that a sincere PI LB, not an escort, would be a real viable ltr possibility.

I'm interested in checking out Davao, Cagayan de Oro & Dumaguete as well.

Gents, I just got back from several weeks in the PI.  ALL my contacts were from DateInAsia!  I had a GREAT time with the gurls I had met on that site & then chatted cam2cam w/ on Y.
