I highly recommend this place especially athe 47 USD special rate. It's in Legian just 5 minutes from Seminyak.

If you're really on a tight budget this hotel is in the heart of the action. Different price point and quality than the Courtyard though.

Note the pics make the hotel seem much nicer than it is.

One decent hotel I stayed recently is hotel Jayakarta:

It is located in Legian beach, only 5 minutes walk from few popular night clubs (e.g. Double 6, Deja Vu). There should be one bar in the area popular among ladyboys (between earlier mentioned night clubs).

Hotel was decent and not too expensive. Location is excellent! I can recommend it! It is not 5-star hotel but good enough.

Ernesto, this is one of my favorite hotels in the world.
The website says 3 stars and that's an extreme understatement.  The Courtyard is great!

Small place and the staff is very attentive to your needs.

On the day I arrived I explained to the young Indonesian guy at the desk that I needed to understand Indonesian IDs.  He laughed and said there is no problem I will not get in trouble because of underage sexworkers.

But I said I relly need to know so he showed me his ID and where the date is etc.

I said I needed to get my mobile unlocked.  He took me on his bike to the phone store.

The pool is one of my favorite pools anywhere.  Open 24/7 but they request you swim quietly if it's late at night.

In the Carribean this [place could be 400 bucks a night.

I've stayed in the Superior Rooms.  I don't really need a suite cause if I'm in my room I'm in bed.  

It's a few minutes walk to the Jayakarta.

Was in Bali march of this year (with GF) Legian beach hotel,was about £29 a night.Top hotel & you dont have to walk past reception to get to your room.Didn't see any ladyboys at hotel,but a few Dutch & German guys brought their young Bali boys back & they were in the pool with them most afternoons & no one said a word !
Bounty was the club where most LB's hung out,but very Amazon,i'm 5'8" & most where at least as big as me,some even look like brick layers,LOL & not a fake pair of tits in sight !I was told that club double 6 was a good place to pick up LB's, a short cheap cab ride from Kuta ! Everything depends on price, but if you're ok with $80 USD / night or so, you cannot beat Villa Cocos (see online) and Poppies. I only stay at Villa Cocos and it's rooms are very unique with large private garden (12 foot high walls). No walls in the living room, opening into garden. Wonderful.
