is singapore airport ok for money changing at a good rate,or is it better downtown at a bank???? bangkok is ok,but i don't know about singapore...thanks
"At Changi Airport. 1 euro = 1.93$ At Sim Lim Computer Center. 1 euro = 1.99$"
Looks like the airport is better! (Isn't this almost a universal rule that airports are the best places to do your currency exchanges at?)
Currency
The local currency is Singapore dollars and cents. Other than the Singapore dollar, the United States and Australian dollars, Japanese yen and British pound are also accepted in most shopping centres and big departmental stores.
Money Changers
Banks and hotels can change money and most shopping complexes have a licensed money changer. Visitors are advised not to change money with an unlicensed operator. Most banks open from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm on weekdays and 9.30 am to 11.30 am on Saturdays.
"Most banks open from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm on weekdays".......great working hours for some!!!!!!!!!.......thanks for the info stogie. i've been to a few countries where the airport exchange rate is not so good compared to outside the airport.
Guys don't forget, unless you're in the vicinity of Sim Lim Square, the extra that you make would have been lost on transportation. Unless you're really changing tens of thousands of dollars! Hotels, shopping centres and most restaurants accept credit cards, even some taxis these days! So it's best to just change it at the airport and be done! The best place incidentally, is Change Alley down in Shenton Way, you can bargain and the main money changers were traditionally there.
