Italy in Winter?

I've been asked to find out what Italy is like in the winter. Does anyone know?

I can't tell from looking at weather sites if it is cold or just nippy. Hell, I don't even know if it's possible to say if Europe is colder than usual or warmer or what. Bush has deleted "climate change" from American search engines.

Anyway, some of you guys are in Europe. I know it's cold in, say, Germany but does anyone know what the major cities in Italy are like? And how is this year?

Northern Italy is cold, and snowy in the winter, great for Skiing and wintersports.
Middle is temperate.
South can have some nice weather but not hot.

Italy is just a great country at any time of the year, many folks enjoy it more in winter, no tourists, as k.t. says it can be a touch warmer in the south. Tell your buddy to look out for those big brazilian l/b down Naples way, he wont get a mai pen rai from them if he says hes nit interested, more like a clip round the ear. VORZA JUVE

I lived in Verona for 3(very long freaking) years. This is right at the base of the Alps and it was very similar to Michigan weather.

It's great for those who like to ski and other outdoor sports.

Totally depends where you're going. Milan, Torino or Venice are awfully cold in winter, Rome can be quite moderate, Naples too and Sicily warm. But last year they had snow all over the country - so I wouldn't bet on any kind of beach or outdoor-pool-climate holiday in the winter months in Europe - not Greece, not Turkey, not Spain and definitely not Italy. The closest 100% beach destination to Europe in winter are the Canary islands (still Spain though).

Italy is just great any time of the year, but if you are looking for a beach resort during winter unfortunately its not the right place.
if you like brasilian or italian shemale rome is the best place and second milan; but i prefer rome for the background.
also its not so expensive...you can get there from almost all europe for about 60eu (ryanair fare) and you can find a not so shitty hotel in roma termini (the terminal train station) for as well as 40-50eu.
once in roma termini in the nite you have two choices get an appointment with an escort tg (100-150eu) or take a freelancer around the station (50eu).
the escorts are usually pretty and when you get acquainted they are very sociable.
the freelancers can be scary but if you drive around the station you can find stunning ones just arrived from brasil.
