  • Ho Chi Minh

    Hello,
I'm travelling next month to Ho Chi Minh for a couple of days. Is there anyone who can tell me if there is a LB scene in this city.

Great city and country, been there many times..... have yet to see a ladyboy but then again haven't really tried.

even getting a regular hooker back to your room is hard however, I  'have' done that and it's like jumping through hoops; you have to go to the *right* hotel {IE, one who will accept bribes to look the other way} and you can't bring one back to your own if it's a legit place;  no local guests allowed for foreigners in 'Nam. The girls are nervous and it's short-times only from my experience, the hotel guys are very dodgy also.

Couldn't even imagine what it would be like with a ladyboy....probably have to go back to her apartment/closet? If you can even find one .....
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

      Thanks,
I had hoped to receive some better news. I'm surprised to hear that because tourism has increased a lot over the last years.
It's a business trip so I will have to stick strictly to business.

Last time I stayed at the Windsor Plaza hotel which is in Cholon (China Town) and I received a (non P4P) girl who I met through internet.

I picked her up at the lower mini-lobby (at street level) and went to the terrace on the top floor for a drink and then down to my room and nobody said anything at all.

So, I would expect more hotels to be non so strict.

However, as suggested by myself and by other BM in posts about VN, the P4P scene is quite risky and worthless. There are those few LBs riding around town on motorbikes..again..avoid them at all costs!

        Good luck!

Things may have changed a bit, I started going there in '98 and went back frequently for moto rides in the delta ..... and met many locals along the way. A really cool young lady named  Duy Linh became my friend, she lived in a beautiful beach area down around Ha Tien; later on she moved to  Saigon to find work and when I would go there to chill she would meet me, but was always very shy when with me. She was a "good girl" and knew that when locals are seen with westerners they get branded as hookers almost automatically.  Many times I'd have to go back to my hotel to get something and I'd say "you wanna come up for a while'?  and she would always recoil and decline, lest the clerks see her and back then in 2004 or so it was still illegal to have guests in the rooms.

This was even for male friends..... my friend Thuy was my local guide whenever I hit the ground and he also could not come to my room, he'd have to wait in the lobby while I got my shit together; hey, who says communism isn't a good doctrine??

Footnote.....  Linh asked me once in a lengthy snail mail to marry her..... obviously because she wanted to live in the west, nothing to do with me and more with the visa issue.  I had a local Viet friend write her back in her own language to say no, that I was not the marrying kind [which is so true] despite the fact she was absolutely gorgeous.

Heard from her last summer when I was in Italy and she wanted me to come visit her; she had moved to Switzerland and married  some guy whom she WAS able to sucker and finally had her dream of living in the west, so good for her.

            Sure, things must have changed.
Saigon is changing daily for the better. So much so that rents are starting to be some of the highest in the region for what it concerns "foreign style" locations.

Women are very nice. A bit in-the-between of Chinese and Cambo-Thai type, a nice mix.

Probably could be a good breeding ground for LBs but so far, from what I've seen, it's still very much in embrional state.

Here's the deal on the LB scene. There is none. You can take your chances with the few that cruise around the Opera House on their motos. They are about late at night but where do you take them? No chance to go back to your hotel, no night guests allowed. The only other option is to go with them to some short time hotel they know about and how stupid do you have to be to do that? Once upon a time I did meet a passable LB in Apocalypse Bar near the back section. She quoted me 100$ and I nearly pissed in my pants. It's just not worth your time or effort to seek out LB'S in Saigon.
