      Hello Gufoo,

      Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the article does not make it clear if it will apply to tickets already sold.
However it's described as a surcharge and there is no mention about taxes so it looks like it's Thai Airways own idea.

On that basis I would say that no it won't apply.

Some airlines even collect a fuel surcharge on "free" flights purchased with FF miles. I know China Air does this, not sure about other airlines.

If the price of a ticket, including surcharges, increases between the time you pay for it and the time you fly, the airline has always technically been entitled to collect the difference when you check in. HOWEVER, having said that, in thirty years of flying I have never heard of that actually happening. There is just no practical way for every ticket to be audited for fare and surcharge levels on check in. There really is no chance at all that they will try to collect the extra surcharge from you in this case either.

              Hi,
it's not clear if the surchange could be applied to a ticket just print (or sold).
I will see next moth with a ticket sold before 25 june...

I think that the new fee isn't to add to the actual fee... example :
from munich to bkk the actual fuel surchange is something like 100 $
              from the 25/06 the new fuel s. will be 210 $ ( and not 100 + 210).

I talked to Thai today and they advised me to book my ticket before July 11th since the ticket from CPH-BKK-CPH would be about 150$ more expensive after that date, I did not understand the reason but I guess it is the extra fuel costs.

Will book two trips (August + November) next week and the 300$ I save will of course be invested in some good LB tail.

Something I would not advise unless you have experience of handling aviation fuel.

Somehow I don't think you would want to be at 35,000 feet when you discovered that it was contaminated by water.
Remember at that altitude the the air temperature is well below freezing!
