how does one post a picture in the box on your message.I have looked around my own control panel and can't find anything about downloading your own avatar?

You first have to upload your avatar into the database (at the bottom of the screen in your control panel, under avatar options) , then select it from the list.

there is a thread on how to do it in another thread.
