I'm curious do you use any on your lens or its just a gimmick? If its important can you advise me a 46 mm one?

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Don't bother, rely on post processing with photoshop / lightroom

I use a UV Filter w/ DSLR , but thats mostly so that when a girl cums on my camera she hits the filter not the lens.
For outdoor use a polarizing filter has its place, but thats for a DSLR under specific conditions.

With a digital camera most filters are acting more as a [useful] protection device for the original lens. "Skylight" type filters are great for daylight use and as good as neutral as far as your pictures go. They are not a gimmick.

Hmmm can't decide if a power zoom point and shoot needs a lens or how much it would ruin the photo quality.

A few things to also consider - if you buy a low price filter - odds are that it will not be multicoated (thus increasing the likelihood of flare, and the glass is likely not to be of high optical quality). Only the expensive filters have multicoating and high quality optical glass. Also in low light situations you will lose a bit of light transmission if you leave the filter on (minimal with UV/Skylight filter but still a bit).

My two penneth - a decent quality Skylight 1A filter is usually only about 25% more expensive than a cheap one in standard sizes.

Say it's $20 to replace the filter if it gets damaged - how much to replace the lens or even the camera?

Do you bother with the lens cap after putting on the filter?

Rx can you suggest me one or even this is good?

Yes most of the time as sod's law the first part of the camera to hit something is the lens - though if you are waiting for a shot then leave the cap off and you know you still have the filter as protection.
