I'll post some pics- it's got good is too as you can take acceptable hand held shots even at 300

I think there is only one 70-300 is, isn't the other 75-300? And cheaper?

Manarak, all together, camera + lenses, you spent roughly $2500?

I'm curious since I *may* get into it.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Manarak, glad you're happy with the new lenses so far, the Tamron is quite impressive, I have the Sony version with the 18-250 zoom and it is my most used lens. It's really handy not to have to change lens so often when I'm on holidays!

(Jake_Sully @ Sep. 02 2010,10:53) Manarak, all together, camera + lenses, you spent roughly $2500?

I'm curious since I *may* get into it.
          here is my setup

prices in CHF (1 USD = 1.04 CHF)

Canon EOS 550D, DSLR, 18MPixel, 1080p Movie, Body
          CHF 814.-

Sigma Objektiv 30mm, f/1.4 DC EX DC HSM, Canon
          CHF 541.-

Tamron Objektiv AF 18-270mm /F3,5 -6,3 Di II VC LD, Canon
          CHF 555.-

          Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX, 11-16mm, f/2.8, Canon
          CHF 695.-

          Total: 2605 CHF

you could easily do without the Sigma and the Tokina.

that would bring the price down to 1369

and then replace the Tamron by a cheaper lens, for about 250 CHF, and you are at 1069 CHF.

you probably have an amazing zoom with the 70-300.
            that's 480mm equivalent!

which version of Canon's 70-300 is it? I know at least 2 versions

can you post some test pix?
Here a couple using the canon 70-300 IS lens, last pic is cropped.... all hand held shots

I have the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM.

DO is short length new model and you sure the L series is not 70-200??

Another new release.... I'm happy with my model... I could never really justify the L series with IS for what i do

manarak, is it accurate to say you only used flash indoors with low light in the pics you've shown us so far yes?

I don't know what to answer.

I used the flash for any pic where I could not achieve a shutter time of min. 1/60 using f/1.4 and ISO 3200.

And I used flash for Sarge's party pix.

I never use flash for panoramic/street night pix, the built-in flash is no use for subjects that are more far than 5 meters.
