  • Wireless external laptop keyboards?

Do these things really work well ?   I want an External Keyboard for my Laptop so I can drink beer and Lay back in my chair while browsing on my Laptop.   My garage is my save havean.   I spend most my time in my garage farting around.   You know,  scratching my balls, farting, picking my nose and in between all that, it'd be nice to have a wireless keyboard for my laptop.   ANY Advice ?
I added a Link to a website that sells these Keyboards.  I know the Link I added was fer a Desktop computer, I want one fer Laptop PC. Whatch'a think?

I'm not sure I understand your question perfectly. Is it at that specific keyboard or wireless in general? I prefer wired to wireless so no annoying keyboard dying and having to look for batteries.

But then again I always buy logitech keyboards so it should be fine. I also always buy from www.newegg.com so here are the reviews: http://www.newegg.com/Product....Product

Only 56% giving it a stellar rating. I would check reviews from newegg before you make a final decision. Hope that helps.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Not tried a wireless keyboard but I have some experience of wireless installations.

The three problems that can affect how well these things work are external interferance, blanking and reflections.

Interferance can come from heavy duty electrical equipment  -  powertools, overhead power lines, auto ignition systems  -  as you are out in the country this should not be a problem.

Blanking  -  the wireless signals work on a frequency that give them short range and also mean that they will reflect off all sorts of surfaces.
If you have a wireless modem in one room and the computer in another it does not need the modem to be line of sight with the computer because the signal reflects around the house.
But it could be that the signal still does not reflect enough to get a reliable signal  -  this is blanking.  Moving the modem or computer by as little as 2 inches could cure this.

Reflections are even more strange.  Think of a square water tank and you drop a stone into the middle of it.  The ripples travel out to the tank sides and then reflect back. As they reflect their frequency changes fractionally  -  usually the change is so minute it does not matter.  But if you get multiple reflections you can get some strange effects where the multiple reflected waves interfere with each other and cause problems with signal reception.  Again moving a few inches should solve the problem.
Your garage looks like it's got plenty of clutter in it so I would not expect a problem with reflections.

The only other thing I would suggest is check out the battery life as some wireless things eat batteries like they are going out of fashion!

Several years ago HP had a docking station, wireless keyboard and wireless mouse kit for several of their laptops. Worked well although the mouse was not quite as sensitive as a wired version.
Six year later, the technology should be so much better so Go For It!
You can get soft roll-up keyboards - plenty of options. Take your notebook to a store and try a few out.
