    I can't comment on the model fitting your needs, but nokia's are generally hassle free. I have owned 4 of them. My current one is a motorola that I regret getting.

    Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

      well, since you are searching for something similar, you should be interested!

      The Nokia N900 looks hot, but the talktime looks very worrying:
      Talk time: Up to 6 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 4 h 30 min (3G)
      The HTC has better stats.

      And there is another phone that's hot:
      Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO
      Talk time Up to 12 h 18 min (2G) / Up to 6 h 48 min (3G)
      and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 looks good too

      can't decide... for now.

          hmmm.... comparison at my preferred local supplier:

          http://www.digitec.ch/Produkt....,162719

          different site, different talk times. The Nokia here only has 100 hours of Standby but beats the HTC by 2 hours for talk time? *scratchhead*

            (manarak @ Jun. 24 2010,01:58) Second I heard that it may not be simlocked, but I heard it is apple-locked, i.e. it refuses to play standard MP3 files.
            What other limitations does it have?
            Plays MP3 files just fine, I have 80GB worth.
            Also plays movie files fine, after you convert them to mp4 files

            Simlocking depends on the vendor. I got a legit iPhone 3GS from True in Bangkok and it was unlocked. I've switched SIMS and used it in USA many times.

            Except for the keyboard requirement, I would suggest iPhone.
            If you must have a keyboard then look at the android phones. There are many versions of android OS, it important to check what version a phone is running. You want the latest, obviously.

            Getting an expensive non-app phone (and that includes blackberry) is just silly in my opinion.

                droid allegedly does a bad job at syncing with MS Outlook (do you confirm that?)

                Except for the keyboard requirement, I would suggest iPhone.
                If you must have a keyboard then look at the android phones. There are many versions of android OS, it important to check what version a phone is running. You want the latest, obviously.
                I need a keyboard with which I can type my SMS or emails (for work).
                so iPhone is out.

                Right now, it looks like the winner of my comparisons is the HTC touch pro 2.

                I *could* have a look at android-based phones if I am sure they can sync Outlook stuff (calendar, contacts, messages, tasks, etc.) properly.

                And frankly, I don't like what I read in the Droid's feature list:
                SYNCHRONIZATION
                Support for Corporate calendar, email and contacts (Exchange 2003 and 2007), Google contacts, calendar and Gmail„¢, Facebook„¢ contacts
                I don't care about google contacts or calendar AT ALL and even less about facebook contacts.
                Again, there is no way I will ever give my data away to an online service.

                No Outlook sync, no deal.

                android's OUT.

                P.S.
                Windows Live is the same kind of big piece of shit like the Google Data Theft apps „¢

                The other day, I wanted to add a contact to their windows live messenger, and the "server was busy"... for 3 hours!
                I couldn't add the contact and couldn't chat...

                If you want to have "availability issues2 with your data in addition of having "confidentiality issues", go ahead...

                  here is another "position paper":

                  The OS for my new device will be Windows Mobile.

                    So....

                    HTC touch pro 2
                    Pro: does everything I want (on the paper)
                    Cons: already older phone, talk time not fabulous, older version of winmo
                    => under consideration

                    Nokia N97
                    PRO: Nokia, does everything I want (on the paper)
                    CONS: small keyboard, small screen, quirks reported in many forums, sync not optimal according to forums and reviews
                    => OUT

                    Nokia N900
                    PRO: does everything I want on the paper
                    CONS: OS is half-baked, talk time is insufficient, quirks reported in Outlook sync, quirks reported in phone operation
                    => OUT

                    Android-Based Phones:
                    simply they are not usable until they decide to allow people to not use the google cloud and sync with local Outlook instead.
                    => OUT

                    iPhone:
                    PRO: many things
                    CONS: lacks a keyboard, sync with outlook is tricky and isn't supported "out of the box"
                    => OUT

                    SE XPERIA X2:
                    PRO: does everything I want on the paper, good talk time, impressive 8MP camera (but I don't need it), new winmo 6.5 OS
                    CONS: it's a Sony Ericsson, Sony has a bad track record for building limitations into its devices and I know SE for using proprietary connectors. I haven't read that the XPERIA had any of these so far.
                    I read some reviews and it seems this phone's hardware is rather dated, touchscreen unresponsive, etc...
                    => under consideration

                    Samsung B7620/B7610 OmniaPRO:
                    PRO: does everythig I want on the paper
                    CON: some minor quirks according to reviews - seems on par with HTC touch pro 2, but with much better battery life
                    => under consideration

                    newcomer
                    Acer M900:
                    PRO: does everything on the paper
                    CONS: many many issues, the ACER immediately falls out.
                    => OUT

                              I can get it unlocked and without contract for the equivalent 13350 baht.
