(Snick @ Jun. 05 2010,17:33) Got my iPad and its great, go ahead and trash it if you like, Jobs will be laughing all the way to the Bank.

I'm interested in seeing all the new tablets/pads/slates that will come out in the next 18 months, but they will be fighting for scraps. With 2 million iPads sold already, and a zillion apps no one will be able to catch up.

I wanted the iPad for its book reading, movies playing and internet capabilities...and I am happy in every respect. I've already read 3 books on it.
2 million and 1 now Snick.

    My iPad arrives Tuesday.

I was in a hotel room in Vancouver BC using my iPhone to surf the web and send emails, and realized that although I love my iPhone, I'd love an iPad even more, and the worries about costs and improvements couldn't really equal the value I'd lose over the next two years "waiting" for the perfected version to arrive... so I went online and ordered it.

    Can't wait!

My feelings exactly, I did get the base version with the expectation that next year I would get a more sup'd up version (plus by next year Thailand should have support for iPad's 1/2 size SIM card).

Typical of apple... why the need for a half size sim card....

(Bumpa STIKKA @ Jan. 27 2010,16:58) I'll stick to books.

many a time i've left a ragged paperback sitting on my towel on the beach while i took a quick dip and i've never worried about it being stolen.

now try that with an ipad.

Another negative against the iPad - someone might steal it.

Keep complaining about it fellas, you will only be more annoyed by its guaranteed success.

It has already achieved the status of must-have plaything here, plus Jetstar have announced that iPads will be their future inflight entertainment system.

Why pay to watch a movie on a little seatback screen when you can watch it on an iPad plus read books, magazines & play games?

There's an idea that will take off. Plus how many passengers will then want to buy one themself?
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

Pac you really have not invested in a netbook yet have you?

And the amazing thing.... this is truly crazy stuff.... you can do two things at once on a net book    (who would have thought it possible)

Not complaining and not annoyed; just don't want one.

Nothing made by those people will ever pollute this household, I like shit that actually works; although I *almost* did buy one for a family member recently! Snick talked me out of it [for all the right reasons though, not because he doesn't like 'em].

I have a laptop loaded with Windows 7 (a poor man's Apple IMO) & I am flat out doing one task at a time on that.

And as has been stated before, the iPad is all about accessing the web to watch & read, its not meant as netbook replacement.

But keep bitching about it, it will only hurt more when Apple announce record profits & their shares crack the thousand dollar barrier... EACH!!!

There are products that from time to time come along and driven by the right hype will still be commercially successful.
You have to congratulate apple of the spin.

My netbook has 8 times the storage capacity, faster CPU, half the price, more functionality, more compatibility...

By any definition of "upgrade" the ipad doesn't cut the mustard.

As for apps.... the sort i use provide limited functionality compared to the actual websites i use.

What will be interesting to see what happens down the track....

I personally think apple will make a bundle of cash on this, but it will disappear into the realms of beta tapes, and digital tape decks.. and genetic girls

DT i do love my iphone ... think its a great little device.
My netbook is great too and provides the same portability advantages of a ipad, relative to the bulkier old notebooks.

I just can't see the point of the ipad at this stage... but acknowledge it will be a success in the short term - as i already said... congrats to Apple for an extraordinary marketing campaign on this device.

Damn that just mean DT ... i know you have just forked out you hard earned cash on this kewl looking device but don't take it so bad when i enunciate its short comings.

I'll let you work out when i'm postive or negative... but i will mention sometimes two certain mods can get my back up

                              I don't believe so..

MP3 players and ipods came out how long ago? I still don't own one, primarily because I'm either always around my comp with mp3's or my car mp3 player.

Blackberrys and Iphones have been around.. but I still don't have one, primarily because my phone hasn't broken down as yet and I don't have the upgrade fever. Besides I would like a smartphone that is unlocked so I can take to LOS.

Its kinda like I have a Home Theater setup but not a blu-ray player. I have a HDtv but upscaling dvd player does it for me.

I don't hate them, I just don't need them and don't fancy wasting the money. I kind of think they invent too many products but not all fits everyone out there. Kinda like GM.. 10 kinds of cars, but not all fits everyone...

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

I'll be taking a book the beach, and leaving my iPad in the room.
