Downloading a countdown clock?

I have tried to download a countdown clock (similar to the one that Azza has on his posts) onto my desktop to mark the lead up to my next trip.

I managed to download one only to see it disappear from my desktop when I shut down my laptop.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. As you can probably determine €“ I am a technical giant.
