Getting Sound But No Video From My Downloads

When I click on a video that I stored on my computer i get Windows Media player. The audio is OK but the video is a psychedelic swhirl.

This happened before and someone here gave me an easy fix but I forget.

Why are you using WMP?

It's bloody awful and you must be the only bloke alive who is using it!

Try either VLC (most popular) or KM Player or if on Windows 7 use GOM Player!

Don't ever use that useless garbage Windows Media Player! Even Microsoft doesn't support that garbage!

Cause that was the default.

Turns out by right clicking I was able to open with VLC.

The problem you had with Windows Media Player was it is missing the codec for the video. With the continuing updates that Microsoft does, the newer version can lose the capability to play older videos. VLC as mentioned or the newer KM player are much better.
