    Since I have installed 7 I've learned a lot...

First off - the media players I used before are now slow or buggy.

I lauded KM Player on XP and even ditched the famous VLC player (which has finally reached version 1, by the way, albeit in beta!)

Now for Windows 7 I'm touting another payer which loads very fast and looks and behaves a lot like the KM player...

    GOM PLAYER

You'll need to change the skin and make some mouse adjustments (which are easy to do) but this player is small, uses minimal resources and works very fast...

If you have any questions on settings then post them...

    In a similar issue...

I have a lot of videos and music files and God knows how many images, which I am loading into the new Windows Media Player...

It's taking days! It's also sucking up resources while it completes the job.

But it will be worth it.

I can now successfully stream media between laptops... although it takes some setting up unless you are computer confident.

You must have the same OS and version of WMP on both systems for this to work, by the way... So far so good...

Not to make your head swell...the big head that is...I'll leave the swelling of the little
head to others...But for the second time in my life I have listened to your advice and
bought a computer...This trip it is the Acer 4730...I came with 3 gig ram, 320 gig hard
drive, an 11/b/g/n wireless card, a Pentium T4200 processor and more and all for a little
over 18000 baht... in the States that is $499 USD.

It's gotta be at least 5 times faster than the Dell XP140 it replaced...That cost at least
      3 times more...

I don't know shit about Windows 7...It came loaded with Vista...Which to this old
ignorant computer user is OK...At least for now...

      Thank you once again Stogie...

BTW...I still use and enjoy the old ASUS notebook when I'm out on the road...

The problem with Windows Media Player in Windows 7 is that it doesn't tell you what it's doing so you don't know if it's working or not!

I finally finished adding my database of media to the main computer and tried linking it to the netbook...

It's adding the files slowly but surely but there's no progress bar or alert to tell me that it's actually doing this function...

You just have to sit there forever and hope that it is!

Luckily this should be a one off task for most people so at least you won't have to index the lot each time you want to see something!

I can't even figure out how to tell which version of WMP it is!

I've tried Win 7 and I'm definitely impressed. It's a fine OS and MSFT has done a good job of learning from their mistakes. Better late to the game than never arrive at all.

I'm hoping some manufacturers start pumping out Android netbooks (as well as other devices soon). Having used a G1 for awhile now and seeing some of the neat stuff that's coming out despite Android only being mass-released, at least in the US, for less than 9 months, is really promising.

Have you ever wanted to be able to just hit a hotkey that tells Windows to switch from High Performance down to Power Saver? Sure, you can use the tray icon, but since we like to customize things there€™s always another way.

Works in Vista & Win 7
