except perhaps my vibrator
The other day not one but 5 of my TV's quit. I am not totally stupid, and I swapped cables around etc, still no workie. ONly ones working are the LCD flat screens. I pull a LCD TV out, and sub a reg TV and get nothing but snow and the word DISH 03, which means I am on dish, and my channel is on 3, but no pic, just snow. All 5 quit at the same time too. I called Direct TV. They tell me to call a repairman, which I do. He tells me my dual LNP or something like that is bad and my dish is oxidized. Changes both out, and viola...............stilll don;t work.........He fucks around a bit (looking more to get a shot up my skirt than theh connections comming out of the wall. I would have given him a little if he ghot my dam TV's all working again.
Then he shruggs his shoulders and tells me to give the receivers a few hours unplugged and they should all reset themselves and things will come back to normal. Then he hands me a bill, which I tell him I am not paying since he fixed nothing, and when the3 TV's all come back on in a few hours I'll sendf him a check..............that was a couple of days ago and still just my flata screens work. My brother dropped by and he ran a piece of new cable from the dish to the receiver. He brought his receiver and put it in place of m,ine and still only TV that works is the flat screens. I should not need a converter box either swince I am on digital (Direct TV) according to Direct TV anyhow. About all my brother can think of now is perhaps its the baluns (splitters) in use are not rated properly for the change but the change is not happeneded yet so it should not be a problem at this point anyhow yet. I may pick up a converter box at Best Buy and try it and see. If it does not make a change I can always carrry it back. My flatscreens work on all installed cable lines in the house. Yet not a CRT type will work on any line . I say it has to do with the signal Direct TV is putting out, but they deny doing anything to the system . yea right.
