correct beat me too it, it fits over the Speedlight in vertical position set flash to remote via menu in speedlight and on camera. then position the ring flash with Speedlight and snap away. quite simple to use and i feel it will gibve pretty good soft light results.

just looked at the utube vid. seems like a very heavy and clumsy way to use it. but it obviously can be used that way.having that hanging off the lens or supported by one hand would make things a bit awkward to use. maybe better to use it with camera attached to tripod and support flash with ring flash using a hand

For those of you who want to try something like the Orbis, but don't want to spend so much, I found something similar in a Pantip Plaza digital camera shop, up on the 4th floor.

It's called Ring Flash and attaches to your regular full size camera flash. Quite a bit less expensive than the Orbis and comes in various sizes for different flash models - I saw ones for Canon and Nikon in the shop.

1890 Baht, sure beats 169 USD!

Yes..I have seen a similar, if not the same (!!) stuff made in Czeckia Republic. It works on the principle of distributing the flash light allover the ring.
Of course..you must already have a flash!
I think it serves the purpose for macros mainly, and bit too cumbersome to carry around...
Anyway..what for? Look at the macro shot I've taken in natural light with my Canon G-10. No flash..no nothing

My understanding is a ring flash will often create a red eye effect, although not a trace in donny's test photo, you didn't fix the eyes did you donny?

Were empty coconut shells where those obnoxious flies were feasting on the coconut flesh leftovers.

Actually, I think Orbis (and alikes) can have great results but I feel they are a bit cumbersome..

What is the great donnnnnny commnet about bringing them around?
