The Orbis ring flash arrived!

Gentlemen and ladyboys, my Orbis ring flash arrived today, so i shot a couple of photos for you to view. first on shot without orbis second one shot with. I had the speedlight flash off cam in remote mode with the orbis ring flash attached.
its a very quick first try but i feel you will agree my model is looking very nice in the orbis pic

Not too bad Donnnnny. Sure softens up the light.  I ordered mine this morning. Should arrive in the next two days. Talking to James Madelin (Orbis creator) this morning and he said they are selling like hot cakes.

ya torurt seems like a great bit of kit for those of us who dont want to set up studio lighting and cart it around.The only issue i can see is that its hand held. I set my Nikon up with remote flash and used the speedlight 800 on its base plate with orbis attached.
As i say its my first go with the orbis, and there are plenty of adjustments that can be made, such as flash intensity and position of flash.I am looking forward to taking some portraits in bkk and will post them on my return.I will also take identical photos without the orbis for comparison.

Donnnnnny, does this flash mount on the front or around the lense? I have read they are very good for macro? Any thoughts?

Donnnnny, can you post 2 pics please taken in macro mode, one with the Orbis & one with just available light. A ring or similar would be great.

Ring flashes are not new but when I asked at a big camera shop they had never heard of the Orbis & I would be interested in getting one if it works well in macro mode.

Over to you sir, your help will be greatly appreciated.

they   do not  fit over the lens, they fit over the flash and  you set the flash in position you need

You say the Orbis doesn't fit over the lens, the attached youtube clip shows it can be used that way, the guy demonstrating it puts the lens of different cameras through the middle of the Orbis.

Does it operate as a slave unit? Can you adjust the intensity? How do you prefer to use it?

Pacman, actually the Orbis Ring Flash is an adapter that works with your regular flash attachment. It acts as a light "tube" carrying the light from your standard dSLR or SLR flash to the ring. This gives good illumination for macro subjects and more creative lighting effects.
