I've been using the VLC player for years now and it's a bit of a crappy interface but it really IS a multimedia player and plays almost everything.
I was happy to learn that they had done an upgrade so I downloaded that and tried it out. It's crap. It's slower and the interface is useless. I reckon Microsoft must have bought them out!
So I went for a bit of a mooch about and came up woth this...

This player is the bees knees and I have now removed both versions of VLC from my computer to make room for this one.
Much better playback in terms of speed, quality, playlists, etc.
It can be a bit tricky to get it to fdo what you want for a couple of things... for example when I double click the screen I expect this to toggle the screen between Window and Full Screen. It doesn't so you have to set it to do this...
