        you call this real life?

High season (now) has morphed into low season, god knows what we can expect when the "quiet" times arrive.

Rather than the tropical rain my complaint is the heat of the dry season, which is actually the wet season. The wet season aka the monsoon season that is finishing now can be very humid. And it can be very pleasant.

If none of that makes any sense, just remember that on any day of the year it can piss down raining, it can be stinking hot, it can be pleasant tropical conditions & that is all before lunch.

The weather of the world has gone to hell in a handbasket & Thailand is no different.

Take your chances rich55 & come any time you can. And welcome to the forum by the way...
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

      What?

Pattaya has a tropical wet and dry climate, which is divided into the following seasons: warm and dry (November to February),
hot and humid (March to May), and hot and rainy (June to October).

Source: World Weather Information Service[2] Nov 2007

Interesting, several of us had a conversation last evening about the weather...Although is was a brief conversation (we were more interested in
ladyboy cock and ass) and no one could recall any rain here since November...We have experienced pleasant warm days and cool evenings...
Although it's warming up a bit now...

To be precise Thailand has 4 season
        Hot, Hotter, Wet, Wetter
There is also a cold season but since its normally one week long its rarely listed (this year it was 3 weeks, a record !!!)
        June-July is Wet
        Aug-October is Wetter
The monsoon rains usually come 3-4 times a week, and then for 2 hours its like pouring a bucket of water over your head (which we also do in April, but thats another story).
In short come whenever you can, the girls will be here, and 90% of the time its fine (and when its wet, just stay in your room with a girl)

          Hello Rich55,

          Welcome to the forum.

As the others said above:-      June to October   -  Rain

What to Expect During Thailand's Rainy Season
No rain for a week at a time
          Night rain and clear days
Torrential rains that last 30 minutes to 2 hours, then clearing and sun
Overcast days with little to no rain
Two to three days of partial day rain in a week is, especially later in the rainy season.
When it does rain it can either be a short lived inconvenience or a longer lived pain in the arse  -  it's hard to say. It's rarely a pain in the arse though.

If your travel times are flexible (from your post I guess they are)  I would say that the price of the airfare is a bigger factor than the weather.

Early June the fares are normally fairly high but not crazy like in July/August. In late September and through October they usually drop down a lot.
Hotel prices generally follow the same trend.

Booking early on airfares (60 days before or 30 days before travel) usually gets you a decent discount. (Use an internet website to get the best deals.)
Otherwise if you are really brave and flexible book at the last minute  -  though as this is a one off for you I don't recommend it.
Hotels  -  work out a budget and do some searching on the forum.

          RR.
Pedants rule, OK. Or more precisely, exhibit certain of the conventional trappings of leadership.

            Hello Rich,
Sounds like we are both in the same boat. I too am finishing up school this year and plan on traveling to LOS as a little graduation present to myself. I plan on traveling sometime in June, I am a newbie to the Pattaya scene so it would be cool to have some buds to share a beer or two with while I am there.

                Don't fall in Love
Don't trust anything you are told
Check the age on ID cards.
Travel light, you can buy anything here cheap
If you are here for more than a week, buy a local mobile phone and number

                Be aware of Thai laws
                1) There are no laws
                2) don't say anything about the king
                3) You must buy Snick drinks

Have fun. And do not limit your first trip to Thailand to just Pattaya.

My main input is to stay as long as possible since your big expense is the airfare.

Monthly room rent in Pattaya is cheap and so is food.

So stay from June until October.

                      Have fun!
