  • Molecular Cell Biology

This ain't my field, so I'll ask the dumb questions.

Is the following correct, and if not, can you please correct it?

-Cell is made up of 23 chromosones
-Each chromosone is tagged X or Y (what determines that?)
-Each chromosone has segments of DNA (but not a complete DNA sequence?)
-Chromosones also have other things (like RNA and?)
-DNA is a double helix molecule
-These segments are sized in terms of base pairs (what's a base pair?)
-Segments of DNA represent genes (how many genes?)

Back to Biology 101 for me I guess.

Ziggy, this is a bit more complicated to explain in a few posts, so I am giving you to some reliable links that explains things fairly well.

    Genetics Wikipedia

    Cell Biology Wikipedia

    Molecular Biology Wikipedia

Amazing how good information can be at times from Wikipedia.
