Every time upon re-entering Canada once I declare I am returning from Thailand I get hit with a flood of questions. Whether the agent is male, female, young or old it is always the same. They just look at me and immediately assume I was up to something illegal or indecent. They notice the number of Thailand stamps in my passport and ask why I go there so often. I answer honestly and tell them to visit friends and/or to visit my girlfriend. That in turn conjures up more questions which I answer well.
In the dozen or so trips made I have only been pulled aside twice for luggage inspection. I had nothing to hide and as a consequence they could not find anything that excited them. One time they opened my camera and found it odd there were no pictures taken. Which in fact was true and totally above board. I brought the camera with me however never took one single photo of anything. This made them suspicious. I suppose if I were in their shoes I would have found that suspicious also, hahaha!
In any event the whole re-entry process is a pain in the ass. Perhaps I am wrong but I suspect the North America customs and immigration procedures are more stringent than else where in the world. Or it simply could be profiling an older man arriving back home with stained pants and a smile on his face.
