I'll actually be experiencing my first Loy Khratong this Nov, in Chiang Mai. I'm usually in the UK enjoying the early Christmas build up..

I've managed to catch Loy Krathong on my last two visits - a great night. Last year was in Bangkok starting at Benjasiri Park on Sukhumvit and then on to a Thai funfair by the side of the Chao Phrya complete with a scary trip packed into a longboat with only about 2 inches of freeboard onto the river to launch the krathongs. If you thought the streets were mayhem...!

Ladyboys and girls put on elaborate and beautiful costumes. Polish up their makeup and put on new nail polish to look their best. They want you to take their pics with you and get big tips. Bars will be packed. Fun night for everybody. So colorful.

I celebrated Loy Kratong in Pattaya in 2014 since it was in November.
Last year, 2015 it was in december so I missed it.

This year the celebration is on November 15, 2016.
So I plan to be in Thailand for Loy Krathong this year, however not sure where to celebrate.
Pattaya is a great party so may just do it there this year again, although Phuket is a option i suppose.
I did partake in Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai in 2010 but it is really quiet compared to Bangkok or Pattaya.
