  • HIV Test

Had my turn 45 (OK I'm a little late) major medical check today. Every fucking thing possible!

    Then they start taking blood.

I ask "What tests will you run?"

"Oh we do everything - PSA, cholesterol, TG, HDC, VDE, Hep A B C, HIV..."

    "You do HIV?"

"Yes should there be a problem sir?"

    "I certainly hope not!"

I guess I am glad it is being tested, but I don't think I would have asked specifically for it. I don't know why. Perhaps because now the wait is making me very uneasy.

There isn't any question in this post. It is just a rant.

Some of the dodgy cart food ive eaten and the lbs and gg's ive had "cuddles" will probably show up positive on all of those categories. I think i better give up cart food to be safe.

Give up lb's thats like saying dont breathe air

Don't know about other countries - but in the UK when you apply for life insurance one of the questions is:-  Have you ever been tested for HIV?

I understand that some insurers in the past would refuse to write a policy if the answer is yes.   Don't know if this still applies.

Even now though if you make a claim against an insurance policy an insurance company doctor will view your medical records.
If you answered no  -  for whatever reason   -   and they find that a test was done  even without your knowledge  they may well use that to avoid or reduce payment on a claim.

      RR.

Can not argue with your logic and probably the main reason I said yes, but the wait........

I'm writing in regard to your forum mention about the HIV test, and also to support the response of Roadrunner.

I also don't know what country you are in, but if you are in the USA, and also depending on what State you may be in, your medical records, under varying circumstances or for various reasons, may be opened for review and scrutiny. An HIV test, whether positive or negative, may not be the best thing to have in your medical chart. As Roadrunner implied, sometimes even asking for, or permitting the test will be considered by some to be an acknowledgement by you of having engaged in "high risk" behaviour, with possible negative consequences for you even if you don't test positive.

This shouldn't stop you from getting the test, however. You can always get this test from an independent clinic that is out of the stream of your regular health care and which has processes to assure confidentiality. Some clinics don't request your name, but will give you an artificial ID to get the test results.

I have a test every six months as part of my insurance and visa conditions, so i spoke to my insurance and they said why every six months for the test. Crazy part of it it's their conditions.

You know you are clear but man that sour faced doctor when he arrives to give you the results must know because he looks so serious you are shitting your pants and then smiles after he tells you that you are clear...i feel like hitting him

getting the HIV test is definatley worth the money, if you dont get the test and develop aids than you will really be shitting yourself.

(Ninewives @ Jan. 20 2009,13:42) Had my turn 45 (OK I'm a little late) major medical check today. Every fucking thing possible!
I had mine done a few months ago, and I'm 49 so, not too late anyway.

I've been suffering from some strange throat mild inflammation since about one year now and God knows what it is. Have done everything..included ultra-sounds and shoving a tiny endoscopic camera down my throat. NOTHING! No tumours/polipus, no nothing...but the discomfort sometimes is still there.

Being sore-throat a symptom of HIV of course did that as well. I check myself evety 6 months anyway and was negative as usual.

So, sometimes symptoms can be very varied and strange/unusual, and doctors themselves can't understand wha'ts going on.

Some countries require HIV testing to get the residence permit and some don't, but in general ALL insurances do. And I wonder why..the buggers won't pay you a dime anyway for HIV related illnesses. Same as they don't for anything related to dermatology problems like echzemas, psoriasis and so on, like they were not illnesses
Do only what you think it's good for you, and not what others think should be good for you!

Well..in most countries you get it for free and anonimously through governemnt clinics or groups like AIDS concern and similar.
