  • Are Blow Jobs Safe?

Is receiving or giving blow jobs safe?

I used to insist on a condom before receiving one...but lately I've given up on using it for BJ's.

It is my understanding that getting HIV from oral sex is highly unlikely, though theoretically possible.  Getting gonorrhea from oral sex is a real possibility.

Anyone have any experiences or information about this?

    Cheers

To be absolutely safe, it's best if you and the giver/receiver remain in different rooms.

      Or better still, different countries.

Also, wear a waterproof cape, wellington boots and insulated gloves. Stand well away from any electrical equipment. Keep your fingers in your ears and your eyes tight shut (that's if you've forgotten to wear your safety goggles).

      Then you might be OK.

      Can't be too careful though.

This is something I worry about too. The consensus seems to be that there is a very, very small risk. Here is a quote from a book by an AIDS expert.

"Another thing I get asked about a lot after a glass or two of wine is oral sex. Is it a risk for HIV or not? Because there's no HIV in saliva, it's pretty hard to pass HIV on to someone else by going down on them unless you've got bleeding gums. And it's hard to contract it that way, either, unless there's a way for infected ejaculate to get into your bloodstream. Again, mouth wounds or bleeding gums. HIV prevention programs don't like to tell you this, but really, if you go to the dentist regularly the likelihood of infection in oral sex is vanishingly small."

So now you just need to ask the ladyboy you are with how often she goes to the dentist and whether she has bleeding gums or sores in her mouth!

The quote is from "The wisdom of whores - bureaucrats, brothels and the business of AIDS" by Elizabeth Pisani. A good read.

the risk is even less for you if she sucks you...
if you suck her slightly more chance of risk...
but its soooooo low of a risk, not impossible....

In addition to all the logical precautions, if you get a bad vibe even for a very illogical reason re someone's HIV status, then pass and move on to the next girl. Lots of girls but just one of you.

Blowjobs are only safe if you are wearing a protective ladyboy jizz hat.

On no account try it without one!

I don't mind it on my face but I'm not sure I'd want it on my hat!

Okay, since this is something that I've worried about myself, I went and did a bit of online research.
This is one answer the San Francisco City Clinic, but it seems to be the general consensus form all the other sources that I've looked at.

How dangerous is cumming in the mouth for both the receiver and giver?
                              ANSWER:
Oral sex and semen swallowing carry a very, very low risk of HIV infection. While some recent studies have suggested it may be zero, there are definitely case reports and individual experiences that support that HIV can be transmitted through oral sex, although it seems to be rare. It may be possible to take this concept further and reduce an already low risk activity to a lower risk one, the thinking would be that no semen would be safer than some, but truthfully there is no scientific proof in this area yet. There seems to be even a lower risk of transmission in people who receive oral sex and I am not aware of any case reports that document getting oral sex as a way to get HIV.

So there ya go. Happy pole smoking.
