phone cards

Hope i've posted in the right place.
Where can i purchase a phone card and sim, when next in thailand?? Do you buy them in the 7-11 or do you havve to go to a phone shop? Any info would be a great help. Thankyou

7/11, family mart, just about anywhere except the open-air food stalls.

It might be easier to just buy a cheap phone, 1400 baht, then bringing your phone. Tuk Com on Pattaya South has about 30 competing vendors.

Good info for Pattaya but depends on where you are...in BKK, MBK 4th floor...hundreds of mafia shops to buy a sim and get a phone unlocked (your phone has to be unlocked to use a Thai sim card)...and as stated you can buy top off cards at any 7/11, Famaily Mart, etc., and contrary to the statement above, you can buy top off cards at open air food stalls in Isaan, they just charge an extra 10 baht...cheeky bastards...

i'll only buy from an openair food stall if i can watch them cook it and that just doesn't work for sim cards
but if i'm up in issan, i'll give it a go!
