He ends up being tied for 17th place - not too bad considering how long he's been off. He apparently injured his hand when his club hit a tree root, so that may set him back a while depending on how serious it was.

It would be good to see him competitive again.

He's looking good going into the Open championship, just needs to straighten out the drives.

Yes, I agree with you that it is a factor, but certainly not the only one. The fact that he was caught cheating on Lindsey Vonn shows the underlying problem is still there as well.

It's hard to say what will end up happening in the Tiger Woods saga.
You see more and more players doing well at advance ages into their 40s and 50s.
However if your body falls apart there is not much you can do.

Last tournament he was looking to be back on track, so maybe this is just something he is doing due to an early off season.
He was in the top in Driving and Greens in regulation, so there still is the chance for him to compete.
His putting was also a much worse problem than the rest of his game, so if his putting gets better anything is possible.
He may not win a lot more but there is no reason he cannot be right in there.
Phil Mickelson is getting older but occasionally has flashes of brilliance, he has some type of arthritis too.
