Week # 1
Welcome one and all to the 2010-2011 version of the LBF football pool!!!! Looking for another exciting year and max participation!!!! Lets knock the swinepuppy off from his throne!!! I know he won last year but previous winners names escape me€¦hell most of the time I can€™t remember what I had for dinner last night€¦.that€™s what I get for being a young man in the sixties!!!!
Here goes for those of you who are newbies to this I randomly pick 5 games, usually the closest per the point the spreads, and you pick who think will win the game, it€™s that simple. I provide a little inane commentary to which you are welcome to respond to and provide us with your own invaluable insight€¦€¦You get one point for every correct pick and then we also have at least one game for 5 bonerus points, usually the Monday night game. In this game you pick what you think the final score will be and then I will, using a very intricate formula passed down from generation to generation, to determine who is in fact closest to that final score. If you hit the exacto (the exact score) you will receive an additional 2 points and if you get all 5 correct and the exact score bumpa sticka will pay for an overnight with the LB of your picking on your next trip to LOS!!!!!
And away we go!!!!
Game # 1
Green Bay Packers (11-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (11-5)
Packers by 1
Aaron Rodgers proved to be fully capable of filling JaiDee€™s favorite Favre last year with a pro bowl year and many feel with or without Favre wearing the purple of the Vikings the Pack should win the very competitive NFC North. This will also be game 1 of the post-McNabb era. Question is who will step up? Will it be Kolb or the Dog killer? Yet to be determined.
The Pack is back my pick is GB
Game # 2
Miami Dolphins (7-9) at Buffalo Bills (6-10)
Dolphins by 3
The Dolphins threw out some dough to acquire one of the best receivers in the league in Brandon Marshall and are putting all their eggs in the Chad Henne basket from a school that was once known for producing pro Quarterbacks but he may easily be the last to come from there for awhile. The Bills did really little or nothing to improve from last year and also gave up on TO or he gave up on them at any rate I don€™t think the spread on this game is high enough.
Orange and teal prevail my pick is the €˜Fins
Game # 3
Cleveland Browns (5-11) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-13)
Buccaneers by 3
The mistake by the lake team actually came on and played good ball down the stretch last year under the tutelage of the great Mangenius and were an exciting team but then came the off season and they still have nothing at QB and their best defensive player was so street smart he thought he could conceal a Glock going thru airport security. The Bucs meanwhile have an excellent up and coming coach and a hungry team. Look for a cover plus
Buccaneers in a good one
Game # 4
Denver Broncos (8-8) at Jacksonville Jaguars (7-9)
Jaguars by 2 ½
Oh remember when the Broncos started out like a house on fire last year and everyone was singing the praises of Kyle Orton!!!! Well funny thing happened Orton started playing like Orton and they collapsed in the second half of the year. On the other hand the Jags also collapsed like the proverbial house of cards last year and if the players want to keep Jack Del Rio they need to win this year in a very tough division.
Good game and the home team prevails I€™m picking the Jags unless Tim (the sainted one) Tebow circumcises the entire Jaguar team whether they need it or not!!!
Game # 5
Indianapolis Colts (14-2) at Houston Texans (9-7)
Colts by 3
The poor Texans have found more ways to lose to Saint Peyton and the Dolts then any other team in the league since the franchise started and are a pathetic 2-14 against them. They are a much improved franchise and with the combination of Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub they will be in most games if they can find some running offense. Their D will pressure the sainted who got spanked by the €œReal€ Saints.
The curse will continue and Saint Peyton will another out of his ass
My pick is the Dolts
Monday Night Bonerus
Baltimore Ravens (9-7) at New York Jets (9-7)
Jets by 3
To listen to some sports talk people they may as well cancel the season and anoint big mouth Buddy€™s equally big mouth son the Vince Lombardi trophy now!!! Can€™t see it yet with a QB who finds the other team more than he does his own team and without the €œsecond€ best corner in the league (behind King Charles on the Packers). The Ravens are a well coached methodical team that knows how to execute and without Revis I€™m going€¦€¦€¦.
Ravens 28-23 (subject to change)
We are putting this out early so we can try and get max participation this year but anyone can change their picks based on injuries etc up to one hour before the kickoff of the season which is 1:00 PM eastern United States time
