North Korea are going to go far. I have explained the reasons why in detail on the forum before.

This is from todays world cup news

North Korea striker Jong Tae-se has promised to score a 'goal a game' at the World Cup and lead his country into the knockout stages of the South Africa finals.

The Japan-based forward, dubbed the 'People's Wayne Rooney' by Asian media after the England striker, predicted North Korea would shock Group G rivals Portugal and Ivory Coast and progress along with Brazil.

'I will keep my promise of scoring one goal per game,' Jong, who scored both goals in his country's 2-2 draw with Greece in a recent warm-up game, told South Korea's Chosun Ilbo.

'In our group it will be Brazil and North Korea who will advance.'

North Korea are making their first World Cup finals appearance since their astonishing run to the quarter-finals of the 1966 tournament won by hosts England.

They could hardly have been given a tougher assignment in South Africa with Portugal and Ivory Coast also drawn in their group.

Training at night under heavy guard and behind barbed wire in the township of Tembisa, about 30 minutes from Johannesburg, however, North Korea insisted they were relishing the challenge.

'I want to surprise the world,' said midfielder An Yong-hak, after passing the three large North Korea flags in the lobby of the team hotel to board the bus for training.

(whore @ Jun. 05 2010,20:31) North Korea are going to go far. I have explained the reasons why in detail on the forum before.
Oh I am sure they will go far...

Far the fuck away from Illustrious Leader, far away from Poverty and famine and far away from the spectre of a poisonous little cunt making them glow in the dark....

I remember after the Sydney Olympics it took 3 years to finally round up the last of the athletes who didn't want to go home, hence the driving skills of the average Sydney cab for the post Olympic years.

PS:Whore, I am at heart an Aussie and therefore cannot take the game you call "football" seriously. Its in out constitiution that we will refer to it erroneously as soccer, and consider it a game for dagos, wops and poofters. I have tried as hard as I can to love it, but for me it is an acquired taste that i cannot seem to acquire.

Colour me a antipodean philistine. (this is not the same as a Palestinian, for those who wish to blend arguments tween threads.)

BUT: I will still offer 1000 baht for the Aussies to make the quaters.

        Any takers?

North Korea is actually a good bet to get out of their group. They have Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal I think. The pundits are giving them no chance but I think otherwise. They should get long odds to get out of their group also so a wee sneaky fiver on them wouldnt do any harm.

Foxxee am fond of watching abit of Aussie rules as its shown here in Ireland fairly often. Probably because we have so many Irish guys going over there to teach you's how to play the game.

I know it means VERY little but Australia were shit the first 60 minutes v US today. They created a lot of chances in the second half, especially the last 30 minutes. We scored a 3rd goal that was, erroneously, ruled out for offsides. Game wasnt played with the higest intesity but the Socceroos tried to kick the shit out of Dempsey after he received a naughty (especially for a game like this) challenge.

Cannot put too much stock into a match like this. Dont think Aussies will be to the 1/4s. Since I am not in LOS at this time I dont think I can take the bet. If I were, I think I would...........not impressive and they aint in an easy group, are they?
            Be careful out there!

I've had a little wager on Holland at 11/1 with Ladbrooks .

Also Van Persie top goal scorer / Holland to win at 50/1 .

My main money is still on Brazil though .

I know bugger all about football but surely South Africa must be worth a tenner at 210 to 1 with betfair - home turf and all that. I would also be up for a tenner on NZ at those odds - 2001 to 1 given their ability to have nothing to lose. Wonder what the odds of getting some of these teams into the quater finals. Where is Pentire when we need him??

                Cheers

I was at the bookies this morning and I got North Korea to Qualify from the group for 10euro at 25/1.

Also have a shot in the dark bet on Henry to score the first goal of the tournament for 5euro at 50/1.

I also had a wee gamble on four doggies and won 190euro.

I discovered today that the bookies are offering 'special bets' where they collapse a winning country/top goalscorer -so, for example, William Hill in the UK are offering 18/1 for the Spain/Villa combination, whereas Spain is 4/1 for the title and Villa, individually 8/1 for the golden boot.

Wayne Rooney @ 10/1 for the golden boot must be tempting-but he has to survive on the field long enough to achieve it...the reasoning for this is that 'apparently' straightforward winning games at the Group Stage offer the golden booter the chance to make the difference and is the reason why Ronaldo probably won't get it...
