(Bumpa STIKKA @ Jun. 13 2010,00:08) On the one hand it's not easy being an England fan when your team is made up of a bunch of spoiled cunts who prefer to be on the front page of the red tops rather than the back page (exceptions are James, Lampard, Crouch) but knowing that Scotland will be glued to the screen hoping for us to fail makes it a lot easier to be a fan!

 

Thank fuck the groups are only 4 teams each....that means I only have to buy 3 football shirts to watch the games with before England get knocked out!

I was paraphrasing bobby's brother Jack.He said Bobby was England's only true world class player.I agree.I saw Bobby Moore play several times,a great player yes,but world class,i doubt it.
The term "world class "is overused I think.Ive heard it said many times,if Duncan Edward had lived,you would never have heard of Mr R. Moore.Gordon Banks,great goalie ,world class ?Yes-I'd say so,as good as any in the world in his time.But do goalies count?

You must have see Mexico 70, England-Brazil, not a world class performance from Bobby ?

As for the winners, too early to tell, enjoying it as always mind you, even if the opening games have been a little shite

Bobby Moore was a legend , there was a great documentary about him on BBC4 last week even George Best said he found it hard to get the better of him .

Back to the topic on hand , actually I don't mind England , I like the team , my team play in the premiership so if none of the Irish teams make it (and we usually don't !) I have a soft spot for England .

What I do hate though is the bias of the English press and media , these guys set the team up to let them down , almost as if they want them to fail .

I had a lot of fun in my local bar last night watching England v USA .

I was cheering on England in the early stages as I had £6 on fat Frank first goal and England to win 2.0 (I got a sweat for all of 4 mins ! ) .

After the equalizer I was cheering the good ol' US of A .

A timely reminder to those who dont remember who invented the game.

The origin of football harks from ancient times. It was all down to a group of English woodsmen up near the border who captured a seemingly raving mad and wild Scotsman , cut his head off, and then started kicking it around and lo and behold the game was born.

Scots do have there uses after all then.
