    NFL 2009

    Hey fellow pervs

    Every year this forum has a weekly pick-em football contest and since the season is just around the corner I figured it is time to grease the skids..........

    The way the contest has run in the past is I choose 5 games based on the odds and try and get the best match-ups available. Occasionally we toss in a few extras to increase the fun.

    Last year there were some cash prizes involved but this is strictly Stogie's territory I just pick the games and track the results. At one point last year we had a record 19 participants and we'd like to get past that this year

    Any suggestions will be considered by the management team. For those of you who would like to participate but are not real knowledgeable about American football this is a good site to go to that has daily updates,

    PreSeason kicks off on Sunday August 9th and the regular season on Thursday September 10th so do your homework and lets have a great year ladies and gents and everyone else!!!!

    Here is the way it works...

    For those who don't understand the game we keep it simple...
    If you don't understand the 'point system' of spread betting we keep it simple...

    Every week SmuttleyDFS puts up 5 football games and rates the teams playing...

    All you have to do is guess which team is gonna win.

    For each correct guess, you earn one point.

    If you guess all five winners correctly that week you DOUBLE your points from 5 to 10!

    We also throw in a 'BONERUS GAME!' where if you come closest to guessing the final score you get 5 bonus points!

    After the regular season is over (17 weeks) the person with the most points wins!

    Simple, eh?  

    By the way - much of this is guess work as the games that are picked are usually pretty close in the betting shops.

    All you have to do is tune in once a week to make your guesses and we do all the rest of the work for you!

    Don't worry if you miss a week as we will automatically give you the home team so you can still play.
    But miss more than two weeks then you'll be dropped from the list.

    Watch out for me... I'm due a good year!  

    Watch out for KatoeyLover and BlueBallz, too... they think they are good but they're pants!

      Pants?? If I recall I won the Komp the first two years but back then we didnt offer any prizes!! DOH!!!

        Actually BB I think I won the first comp in'03 (haven't cracked the top 5 since) I think you were still stuffing ballot boxes in Fla for W that season

          That time again!!!

          I came fifth last year with minimal knowledge so I'm loking for a top 3 or alternatively a booby prize this year.

                The Vikings have already sent the message to the team and other QB's they aren't happy with that position, so a Michael Vick signing is not far fetched.

                So when do the games get picked and where do we post or send our picks?

                  Relax ginger there will be plenty of time to get your picks in. I will probably list the the first week's games two weeks or more out so we can get max participation. Vick to the vikings could happen.......imagine a healthy Vick and Adrian Peterson in the same backfield down the stretch...........

                      Whoever takes the chance on Vick will have him for 2 preseason games and he can train with that team. He probably won't be allowed to play until week 6. The NFL won't allow him to be the story in week one, so they will wait until they need a ratings bump. The Vikings who have had their problems with troubles including the love boat and leading the League in DUI's for years may want to distance themselves. There are enough teams who are desperate for QB problems and will risk any kind of fan backlash to win. I don't see people giving up their season tickets over signing him. He is currently being councilled by Tony Dungy who lives in Tampa. He could join them and their 8 other QB's while being mentored by Dungy.

                      Bears should be much improved with Cutler, but his best recievers are tight ends.

                      Time to go study up for fantasy football, hopefully the by product will be a greater knowledge of teams as well. Tend to overlook that when you play fantasy games.

                          Yeah JaiDee loves farve. but i think he animosity towards Brett was, in part, because he came back with the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS and JD is a New England fan.....

                              He told the Packers he was not coming back and then played for the Jets, then he told the Jets he wasn't coming back and went to the Vikings whom he told was done then comes back. This time he says his daughter told him to go back and win another Superbowl. Pricelss.
