    Saints and Colts can't let up now!

    So what do you do if you are a Colts coach? They already have home field advantage! The Saints have a first round bye and will probably secure home field with another win.

    Do you rest up some players and save them for the 'big' games in post season?

    It makes sense if you can't win without them and they may get injured... I'm thinking Drew Brees here.

    But it also makes sense to go for perfection because THAT is what is ultimately remembered.

    Who can remember the team AND the year of the last 'perfect' season? We all can... Dolphins, 1972!

    Who can remember who won the Superbowl 5 years ago? Yeah - I thought so! Me neither!

    For me I would continue to play every game to win it. Home field advantage, playing the weaker seeded teams... that's important. Keeping players healthy and rested... that's also important.

    But in the end you have to play the game to win it or you are forgotten all too quickly when you lose.

    Manning is a QB that needs to play! He will be the greatest of all time with a superbowl win! Resting players is for college and high school!!

      Manning has a win already, in the 2006-07 season. I'd like to see Brees get a ring.

      Here are my thoughts on the perfect seasons:

      The Colts don't really care whether or not they go perfect. But Manning will play because backup Colts QB Jim Sorgi is injured right now.

      The Saints *do* care about going undefeated because they want more respect from the NFL. They've never won a Superbowl. They need the attention more than the Colts do at this point.

      The Saints are a more complete team than the Colts. I like their defense better, and Manning may be a football god, but the Saints just have more offensive weapons than the Colts. Look at Reggie Bush... a mediocre player but he can be dynamic when inserted into that offense. Same with Robert Meachem. The Colts however have perhaps the best tight end of all time playing for them... They've also got Reggie Wayne, a god-tiered WR only rivaled by Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss.

        Sometimes wheter to play a somewhat injured player is a judgment call that could go either way. I would err on the side of caution.

        I agree with BH in that it would mean more to New Orleans than Indy to go undefeated.

        Blonde Havoc comes from a tough town. They killed a Steeler fan with a spiked drink.

          The last time the Colts decided to "rest" players for the playoffs it backfired and either the Pats or Chargers bumped them off. Resting an entire game screws up a professional athletes pace. What they should do is play normally until the game is decided and then rest players

          By the way even though the Saints/Cowboys is Saturday it will be a bonerus game this week so all who play the game be prepared

            The Colts Polian (sp), ws on tv last night, asked the same question, vis a vis, his team resting some starters, and its effect on other possible playoff eligible teams, he said the colts had done their regular season job, now its up to the other teams to handle their own schedule, they'll rest some regulars I would think , not Manning though, as was said, no backup QB available for them

                IMO, they should rest players with minor injuries that they may normally play with if the race was close.

                  Resting players has never worked....it screws up timing and momentum. The teams that win the Super Bowl are the ones who are clicking on all cylinders come playoff time. The starters have to go at least 3 quarters.
