The New Orleans Saints' victory over Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of "M*A*S*H" to become the most-watched program in U.S. television history!
(Bumpa STIKKA @ Feb. 09 2010,18:28) As I understand the rules, if the QB makes himself a part of the play (for example by not getting the fuck out of the way!) then he's fair game for a block in the back.
There is an unspoken rule on defense that after a turnover you drill the quarterback who is now fair game. But it needs to be a legal block. You can't hit someone in the back and it's a common penalty on special teams as directions change. This event has been picked up by a few people:
This was a block in the back and probably should have been called but it could have been observed as more of a push and that could be why it wasn't called. Still it was worth seeing all the pics of manning sitting on his ass watching Porter pull the Super Bowl out from under his fee with the pick 6.
As far as the int goes Porter stated that he had been waiting for that pass the whole game, it is one of the sainted one's favorite plays. I think the pass was a little bit more inside then Manning intended or Wayne was more outside then he was supposed to be. But as has been shown since the game ended Manning has alot of blame to spread around as usual and it is pointed everywhere but at himself.

"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."
Lots of statistics floating around but here's one I like...
The Saints became the first Super Bowl winner to post three consecutive victories over teams led by quarterbacks who had won a Super Bowl (Kurt Warner, Brett Favre, Manning.)
So, does this loss make Manning overrated now same as Favre, JD?
His playoff record is something like 9-9 now. Not what one would expect, especially those who consider SB wins as the #1 criteria for best QB ever...

"Inflexibility is the worst human failing. You can learn to check impetuosity, overcome fear with confidence and laziness with discipline. But for rigidity of mind, there is no antidote. It carries the seeds of its own destruction." ~ Anton Myrer
