  • Superbowl: Colts & Saints

There's two weeks to go but here's the early line.

    Who is going to win?

The Saints will be underdogs and can go out there and have some fun. The pressure is on The Colts to win it.

My educated (and biased) guess is that The Saints will win this in a close one and I'll take the under...

You have to give 5 points, not take 'em....

I'd LIKE to see Norleans win, but me thinks the Colts are stronger over all. And lets face it, the Saints scored 31 points last night but looked shaky doing it, and allowed a very error-prone Vikings team to stay in that game till the last seconds when it could have easily been a blowout.

56 sounds like a lot, but the Saints went over the total twice in a row recently, and the Colts went over as well yesterday. I'd go with Colts, minus the 5 and over the total.

Colts will win. Probably won't cover. Over on the total.

That's a strange way to look at it. Nothing made me as a player feel better and pumped up than to read in the papers we were favored to win the next game. That gives extra confidence I am on the better team and we are stronger and is lower pressure. When across from me is a team loaded with all stars and our team is the underdog then that is the highest pressure to the point of even being a bit demoralizing. That's the last thing you want going through your head in a tough game. Fun? When very tough guys are lined up against you, that's not fun! This is a contact sport and you are going to get cracked good once in a while but you do your job. There's always pressure, but being favored is a luxury and both teams know it going in. It just doesn't compute to me that a player would see they are the underdog and their reaction would be to become more relaxed as in "hey guys we don't have to worry about winning this week anymore, a loss will suffice". Not a chance.

The exception I think is if the odds makers didn't give you the respect you think you deserved a team may especially rise together in anger to prove them wrong.

i think that spread will keep climbing (to 6 or even 6.5) but for no better reason than i dream of a high-scoring and superclose superbowl, i'll go saints (taking points) and over, and even call it to go to OT:
                Colts 34 - Saints 31

Waiting for sunday night is like a kid waiting for Christmas!!

The last game of the year for the best sport ever.....even with 2 teams I don't give a flying fart about, it's still something to look forward to, of course. And *should* be a good one [although we must remember that many in the past have been duds].

Predictions for the final score, anyone??

                  I say Colts 30, Saints 24

                  Roll on Sunday!!!

I'll be on the islands this weekend, usually I don't wake up that early when I'm out and about.

(PigDogg @ Feb. 04 2010,01:23) Looking forward to a action packed high scoring game.
Me too of course.....but DAMN that 615am starting time!

I can't EVER fall asleep before 3 or 4am...... and staying up straight through until 10am when it's finished could be rather rough, I did that once for the divisional playoffs.

So, what will you guys do? take a short nap and then wake up at 6?

Or stay up all night and watch it from 6-10?

Well 24 hours from now we will have either a new Super Bowl champ or a franchise with their 3rd trophy. And I know all of you have been waiting in breathless anticipation for my Super Bowl analysis and prediction

                              Well here goes...........

Despite what BB thinks I do respect Peyton Manning as a QB and think he is one of the best ever and that doesn't mean that I feel he should be exulted as the second coming. That being said I think his talent and composure on the field is going to be mitigating factor in this game.

I watched as he literally took apart a quality NY Jets defense in the second half. Still think the game would have been different if the Jets could have kept the Colts out of the end zone at the end of the first half but that is what Manning does, just like Montana, Young, Brady, Elway and even Aikman you can't leave the screen door open like they did.

The key to the Saints winning is to pressure him like they did Favre and hit him legally as much as they can...........but that is the game plan for every team that faces Manning. You blitz him and nail him and then look up and Dallas Clark is strolling in the end zone for 6. You play a nickel package the whole game and double Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon kills you or someone out of the backfield.

The Saints capitalized on creating turnovers all season and leading the league in scoring off of those turnovers but you can't count on turnovers and I don't think Manning and the colts have turned over the ball much if at all these playoffs.

Now lets look at the Brees factor. I think that Brees can take advantage of the Colts defense and could create a shootout factor that I think would make the Saints the champs but alhough the Colts D bends it doesn't break all that much. Dwight Freeny will be on the field with his bum ankle but he won't be a deciding factor. Brees has to put 30 on the board for the Saints to win this game.

As much as I really want the Saints to kick Manning's ass I don't think it will happen. Manning is at his peak and should get his seond ring.

                              Colts 35 Saints 24

It's good to King........no matter what the pay

Courage is being scared to death__and saddling up anyway

Billy Jaffe, Radio Voice of the Thrashers:
”I have absolutely No problem with Ohio State. It has a beautiful campus, and for a Junior College it has really great Academics.”

"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."
