    • (katoeylover @ May 17 2008,01:07) City Grab last UEFA Place!

Manchester City will play in next season's Uefa Cup after claiming a place via the Premier League's fair play table.
Something I read in the Bangkok Post

"Media reports indicate that "EIGHT" fans turned up at the airport to greet Manchester City on their end of season tour to Thailand.

Hardly the news that owner Thaksin Shinawatra would welcome after declaring his " Alice in Wonderland" dream for Manchester City to be on a par with the other Manchester side who live down the road.

Thaksin, by his attitude to manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has undone all the good work that Sven and his team have done this season to make City a credible force in the EPL.

Forget the last result, a 8-1 hammering at Boro (chuckle chuckle), it has been suggested by some that this was a team in revolt against Thaksin's methods of dismissing a manager they liked and had faith in and thay maybe correct.

Throughout this shambles Eriksson has remained dignified and his integrity intact unlike the Thaksin camp who know nothing about football.

They have in an irresponsible way and against the overwhelming wishes of the large legion of fans who after many seasons were seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

The Thaksin clique should look again to neighbour's Manchester United to see a manager who has been there 21 years and look at the silverware he has won.

Yes, in the early days United struggled under his management and he was on the cusp of being sacked but the director's at the time had faith in him to continue and have been repaid many times over.

Thaksin is again dreaming if he thinks that world class managers will be breaking their necks to come to City.

If they do it will be mostly likely for the money and knowledge that if they fail after one season they too will be sacked and walk away with a nice retirement package.

Finally I wonder how many free tickets will be given away to give this match in Bangkok some credibility.
It would be interesting to know but I guarantee you never will."

On a personal note I think Sven has been like a "breath of fresh air" to City and hope he is there next season

In the 70's and 80's Stockport County used to play their Home games on a Friday Night (Friday Night is County Night as it was known back then) as at not to collide with the Home fixtures at Maine Road and Old Trafford respectively on a Saturday and I believe Tranmere Rovers did the same so to attract more supporters.

It is a "myth" from the terraces of Old Trafford that all Man City fans hail from Stockport even going as far as chanting "Stockport Stockport give us a Song" to them

In the "old days" I did indeed go to watch County almost every Friday night they were at "Home" and on quite a few "Away" games too, I still remember the week Slade hit the No1 spot with "Cum on feel the noize" and I was watching Stockport County play at Crewe Alexandra in an "Away" match

I have of course a "soft spot" for County but as you probaly know by now my "passion" is for United

And yes Naang I'm having a great time thanks

You should have a good chance next year of at least making the play-offs with Paul Sturrock in charge again.

I believe they buy them (and I'm speaking from DIC's perspective on Liverpool) because quite a few of the teams are well below their perceived value.

Liverpool, for example, should be even more stellar - in that sense the yank is right about Parry- which is why Ansari wants to get his hands on them. Sure, he's a fan but he's also a businessman and he knows what sort of value he can raise them to.

I cheekily suggest he should buy Arsenal instead - he could use DIC's cash. "No chance," he says.

Arsenal shares are too expensive and in any case Arsenal has already reached its full value. "There are actually very few clubs in the world that are worth buying, and Liverpool is one of them," he says.

Maybe, sturrock is a good boss, and i hope he does well.
Plymouth have a good fan base and it would be great just to make the play off's next season even if we lose,it would be great for the team and city!
Holloway leaving last season ,half way through was a blow at the time, but he had his com uppence with leicester city. I think he should have stayed at plymouth and he might have taken us up!! His mistake was the lies he told about not leaving, suckering up to the local paper then leaving, of course he was going to leave,if the money and prospects are better, only this time it back fired. We are behind sturrock and we will see what happens!!
